@europeanspodcast Oh, hi! Funny timing - I recently discovered your podcast and have been binging it for the past few weeks 🙃

Talking to LLMs is like being in a parasocial relationship, but with a mirror image of yourself. A mirror image that never challenges you. And can be tweaked by a bunch of rich nutjobs to steer your thinking to their liking.

Oh, cool. Already some sketchy new bot accounts with bios in russian are popping up in my notifications. Is this a common thing for everyone, or is it the Baltics hashtag they're responding to?

As promised in my introduction, here's a picture of some #crows from a while ago.

I know this won't be a popular take here, as they're local radical darlings. But the municipal elections are coming up, and I'm curious if #bij1 has changed their stance on the russian invasion of Ukraine? Or is does it still boil down to "colonialism is only bad if The West does it" and "let's negotiate with fascists, they'll surely listen to our hippie drum circles"? They lost my vote in the previous elections becau...

@vreer Yes, in principle I agree that war sucks, and in an ideal world it would not be necessary. I would have never thought that I would be rooting for sending bombs to anyone. But we live in the real world, where russia is a fascist state that wants to get back the land they consider theirs and exact revenge in the form of genocide on the people who dared to escape their land empire. They have been openly talking about it since the collapse of the soviet union. And they have started with Ukra...

@vreer And anyone who believes that russia cares about international law or would accept any peaceful solution has not been paying much attention. It's the equivalent of calling for dearmament and peace talks in 1939.

I'll repeat it louder for those in the back. Calls for stopping military aid to #Ukraine are incredibly naive, uninformed and dangerous, and benefit only russia. And they come from a place of privilege. The privilege of knowing that you, your friends and family are safe from the consequences if the aid stops. The privilege of comfort and safety, having benefited from decades of buying cheap russian gas and financing their war machine. While they've been openly calling for recl...

@OnceUponAGoblin I'm quite happy with a simple #samba share that runs on an old MacBook in my closet that I access via self hosted #netbird, and back up to #borgbase. So far it works even better than gdrive. Until, of course, a power cut happens while I'm on vacation, but I plan to solve that scenario by asking a friend to come over to enter the boot password :)

Idea for a browser plugin: Something that stops me from posting too much on the internet when I'm hypomanic.

So yesterday I went to a standup comedy event where there were only 3 people in the audience and 8 comedians who were relying on crowd work a lot. Let's just say I unlocked a new nightmare situation for my social anxiety.

Hi Fediverse! After hovering around here for a long time as a passive observer, I've decided to be more of an active participant, and try to do the #introduction thingy. I'm #autistic, so obviously the only good way to introduce myself is by making a long list of topics I think too much about. Besides the standard Fedi topics, I'll be tooting about: ‣ The surreal experience of growing up in the #Baltics in the 90s, and why the last half a decade of geopolitical events...
