  @billinkc@beige.party @pmpjr@techhub.social IIRC the meeting maker can do that. I want it function like Zoom, Slack, Discord, Matrix, Mattermost, HipChat, etc where I can override the meeting settings to always be muted when I join any meeting.

  Experimenting with Claude and OpenClaw locally now. Seems to work fairly well using the more recent open models from China. I've gotten more used to the Claude workflow from work, though I can definitely tell a degradation in accuracy from Sonnet and Opus at work. But Qwen3.5 seems pretty damn close.

  @User47@vmst.io while I did enjoy the ecobee I had, at least as a Nest replacement, mine had A LOT of weird issues that someone who isn't versed in spotting software bugs would probably have trouble with. Like sending a stupid alert before checking to see if the HVAC is even on first. Or in one case for me ALWAYS reporting terrible air quality unless a desk fan was pointed directly at it blowing full blast. Or having the motion detector randomly spaz out.

  The only companies that participate in "Best Place to Work" surveys are those that are so insecure that they feel the need to "game" outside recognition to make themselves feel better about building a hostile and non-inclusive workplace.   @bss@social.coop Another point here too is that Proton was forced to turn over the payment information, they didn’t just give it up. With a paid account I’d think it would make sense to use email aliases for nearly every communication you have so your actual proton email isn’t exposed. This is built in to ProtonPass. Might not have stopped linking that alias to a payment but it couldn’t hurt.

  Do I want to pick a fight on here with someone responding to me with barely any cohesive sentence structure? I'm really tired of seeing people with real profile pictures that look middle aged with a profile showing them as being educated and employed but their responses to me are BARELY English and understandable.   @User47@vmst.io Just install ollama. Then you can use it to pull and run all kinds of models. I just generally use Deepseek-R1 as it's a decent reasoning model and a little more focused for my use cases. You just have to find the right parameter size for your hardware that gives you a reasonable compromise of complexity and utility vs performance. I generally use the 8b model on a mobile 3060 in my laptop.

  I will say, building out a terraform project from scratch with some help from Claude has taught me a whole lot more about terraform project structure and abstraction than I ever got from reading blogs. Still not a fan. It still tries to do stupid stuff but its at least been useful as a teaching tool in this instance.

  I’m an admin on a pretty large and very active Discord server but we’ve spent the weekend getting a new self hosted Matrix instance setup. Things are mostly working so far. Having some issues with device registration on mobile and user sync ATM but signups are working and the bones of the services seem to be all functional.
