Sesame Street put out a website about how to talk to kids during natural hazards and other disasters. It's cute, but also quite well done #EmergencyManagement https://sesameworkshop.org/topics/emergencies/

I gave each of my cousin's kids a d20 while I was at the family reunion. One of them was fascinated because their scouting group is playing but he hasn't joined yet. Another was interested because he loves math and stories -- like, duh! The third thought it was cool that I thought of him. The youngest looked at me confused. He's three. "Why do you wear so many shirts with dice on them?" "Because the game taught me that a diverse group is a strong group when you...

I hung out with a bunch of people I know through work and ALL of them loved my D&D shirt. ALL These are people who worked in spec ops at various points, who LOVED my D&D shirt. Then they talked about the value of diversity. That's some moral FUEL.

It's not "what do you do with the time between adventures?" It's "how do you prepare to succeed? What is your plot?" One is the space between and the other is the connective tissue of #DnD Scheming >>>> Downtime https://fullmoonstorytelling.com/2026/04/27/rebranding-downtime-into-the-fourth-pillar-it-deserves-to-be/

311, the band, is a large part of how I keep myself positive and love my life. The lead singer exudes positivity, but recently started opening up more about a several years' addiction and mental health struggles in this podcast. https://www.checkyourheadpodcast.com/episodes/nick-hexum-311-anxiety-amp-addiction-recovery-with-brandon-jay-altadena-musicians-podcasthon-special

#DnD has "Three Pillars" -- combat, social and exploration. Each of these can be defined in other storytelling forms as scenes with the timing of each a bit different. Combat is fast action, defined by the turn and round - six seconds at a time. Spells are cast, but there's not time for a ritual.

“Probability, chance, randomness — these aren’t just ideas,” Madden told Hyperallergic. “They’re real features of the physical world, and through these games the dice bring randomness out into the open, they clean it up, they make it so that you can see these patterns.” Dice are more than 12,000 years old #gaming #dnd #ttrpg https://hyperallergic.com/dice-are-6-000-years-older-than-previously-believed-study-says/

I have a weird idea for my 5e #DnD world Feat paths (similar to the UA with Liches and Hell Knights) but for the dominant faiths in the World of the Everflow. I'd do the full pantheons rather than specific gods. But the Church of Quar probably has to have Orthodox and Free Church versions. Am I ambitious enough to have 2-4 Feats for the five faith groups? Maybe Link to the faiths https://fullmoonstorytelling.com/common-knowledge-in-the-lands-of-the-everflow/

I want a D&D where I'm a soft ass halfling enjoying tea while fishing with my little doggo next to me as the dragon flies overhead. I ignore the dragon. I sip on my tea. I pet my doggo.

As I prep for another Ferments session I'm trying to lean into the Milieu concept from the genre fiction guideline MICE (Milieu, Idea, Character, Event). This goes beyond having the environment act (see recent @slyflourish blogs) into developing the setting like you would a character. This is one of the aspects of Dune, but it's also part of Call of the Wild. It can be expressed as Human v Nature, but here I'm hoping the characters don't maintain an adversarial re...

I'm going to write a slice-of-life narrative set in one of the regions of my #DnD / #Fiction world. It'd be a sampling of what a normie deals with in this fantasy world of animal companies, magical knowledge banners and dragons hoarding things. I've heard this referred to as Tuesday Afternoon worldbuilding. Which area should I sample?
