Decided to finally give this digital collage reworked from stock photos (Original photo by Gerado Infante https://www.pexels.com/@gerardo-infante-230434) a proper home for a new Replay in Neon release. This one is inspired by specific sci-fi films, books, and an imaginary 1980s TV series.

Last night I was thinking about a song I released last year (and I'd struggled to get the vocal tune right). I started singing it last night without any backing, and I really liked how it felt. But it was different to the original vocal tune. I ended up recording it and re-jigging the original verse and it's sounding much better that way. And I'm not trying to bury the vocals in a wash of effects. I'm finding that this is a better way for me to work if I want a vo...

DVD choices for tonight - I regularly re-watch the Kitaro ones (It's true, ghosts don't go to school.. and that's how it should be!), but not watched Instant Swamp yet. Exactly the sort of thing I need to watch right now though.

Instead of Bandcamp how about Bangcamp, where we upload our fringes. Currently streaming... a bit gingery honey blonde horseshoe bangs that have decided they want to be almost wavy curtain bangs instead.

Spent ages growing my hair, but it's too fine and looks like stringy tendrils even in the softest of breezes. Seen too many photos of myself recently where I look like a mess. Going to the hairdressers this week - maybe I should just get a shorter cut. But I worry that will make me look more masculine. I don't want that.

One of the music projects I started ages ago is focused on electronic folklore songs - the 1st one of those is Under the grainstone (but tied in too is Beacon Lights & What destiny has planned). Been trying to tie it in with my local area, but even though Sussex is amazing for local folklore, the commuter belt of Surrey isn't. But I do have some general folklore tales like Jenny Greenteeth, and birds turning into men I've put my own take on. Hopefully they will suit Ellen...

This video premiered on Indie Beat TV earlier. Replay in Neon - Theme From The Midnight Detective Club https://spectra.video/w/k8iccRagGbCZ93VN4eHrdP I originally wrote it back in 2015, but never found a home for it. It was also the inspiration for the synthpop project of the same name. #fedimusic #musicvideo

Another great #bonkwave release party tonight - this time focusing on the challenge of creating tracks using a handful of samples at their core. Amazed by the variety of music created with them. Such a fun chatroom too, as ever. Lovely bonkwave bunch of people. You can listen to the release here (Autumn Waves, part 3), along with all the other Bonkwave releases https://music.bonkwave.org/

Part 1 of the latest #Bonkwave compilation, Autumn Waves, releases this Friday (10th April) at 8pm UTC. 🎉 🥳 With a launch party at https://party.bonkwave.org/ Parts 2 & 3 are happening same time, same place on 17th & 24th April. So many great tracks, including an album of submissions for the sample challenge that was running as part of it. Be there.... Be #Bonkwave or be #NotBonkWave ... Is that a question??? #fedimusicians #fedimusic

Big thanks to @etherdiver for this great review of my Maybe There's a Goose in the Machine release. "...clever things going on here in terms of the sound design and sample mangling. And if you don’t give a f*** about that? Well, it’s still some extremely engaging and weird electronic music with a unique sound." :) Over on their OPM page: https://www.etherdiver.com/2026/02/27/opm-the-freaks-are-alright/ #fedimusic #musicreview

Maybe There's a Goose in the Machine (Danger Lift Machine project) This EP release is a new direction for me. An experiment with field recording and samples, with most tracks built from a single sample. It's experimental, industrial in places, melodic in others. A moment on campus; a goose playing a saxophone on a train (maybe); 3 visits to the local brewery; birds; voices; more journeys. Also decided to release it under creative commons license and plan to do the same with...

When I first started drinking beer I used to like the mixed pints in the same glass - half and half. Brown mixed or brown mild was the thing for me. The bar manager at my local brewery tap room suggested one to me tonight, so I'm having a Saraman. Half Talisman half Saracen. Mmmmm. Love it.
