Last night I was thinking about a song I released last year (and I'd struggled to get the vocal tune right). I started singing it last night without any backing, and I really liked how it felt. But it was different to the original vocal tune. I ended up recording it and re-jigging the original verse and it's sounding much better that way. And I'm not trying to bury the vocals in a wash of effects. I'm finding that this is a better way for me to work if I want a vocal I'm happy with - sing without any backing, except maybe some drums, and then build the backing around it. #fedimusician
