Old sections of #Toronto had a good thing. Small storefronts with apartments above. Too bad these are being torn down for large condos with sterile spaces. #architecture #Toronto #Ontario #Topoli #Onpoli

Saw this yellowthroat while hiking near the Glen Huron pond. It is a really pretty bird. It was hiding in the cedar, and would come out for a brief second to examine what I was and why I was stopping. It continuously kept moving, so I had to keep shooting with the camera until I got a couple of good pictures. https://www.openstreetmap.org/relation/936567 #birds #bird #birding #Ontario

Hiking the Mad River side trail, along the Bruce Trail. An 8.6km loop. Lots of great views, and many turkey vultures using the thermals from the Escarpment. https://www.openstreetmap.org/way/1177239612 #Ontario #hiking #Canada

Surprised to see this Indigo Bunting, usually I expect that the like clear open fields. This one was high in a tree, along a forested area. https://www.openstreetmap.org/way/1181189135

Local trees are important. Here a red-tail hawk sits high over backyards. Near Eglinton and Oakwood; not a very forested area. Stalking the local pigeons that frequent the nearby condo roof. A ring billed gull that circles the grade school playground was trying to chase it away. #trees #birds #Toronto #Nature #birding #hawk #urban

Saw a Cooper's hawk having a bit of dinner tonight. Ran back and grabbed my camera. The hawk was being mobbed by 2 robins. They got a few passes, but the hawk wasn't bothered. Perhaps it's every 6 months, or more that I see a hawk near me. But I guess it comes down to luck as to when I look up. This was in mid-town Toronto. #birds #birding #Toronto #nature #bird #birdwatching

I like finding these old storefronts. This one is near Dufferin and Rogers Rd. Too bad many of these little stores, within communities, had been converted from retail to residential. #Toronto #TOpoli #ONpoli https://www.openstreetmap.org/node/12161196607
