My screen time is out of control 😔

RE: https://mastodon.social/@simple_sabotage/116972855544035386 Please do not start fires, though.

On posts about the fires and evacuations: constant refrain of 'arson' and 'it's all orchestrated'. I'm just so. damned. tired. of this conspiracy theory nonsense. What's doubly frustrating is that they are *so close* to 'getting' it ... and yet so very, very far.

Wasting another perfectly good day sitting in front of the fucking computer.

RE: https://veganism.social/@Geri/116535078830802047 omg. Fuck the Venice Biennale.

The Farrer by-election is so depressing. I'm not surprised, but I'm disappointed.

I was reading some theory because I keep thinking about wanting to do something through a Marxist-anarchist lens but omg academic Marxist theory is always so fucking pompous and obscure. I probably doesn't help that I've lost a bit of brainpower in the last few years but how can theory be Marxist AND classist? Like I feel it's not just me. There's a particular tone, you know?

I'm exhausted by rage. I'm tired. I need peace and hope.

Winter's barely here and I'm already tired of being cold.

Somehow accidentally replied to someone instead of making a separate post and got blasted with 'who the fuck are you get out of my replies' like ... um ok, sorry? Jesus.

Why are people being such assholes on here lately? I can't upload the screenshot for some reason which is probably just as well.

I described the name 'natural gas' as being very 'newspeak'. This person replied: " @artemis The term was coined nearly 200 years ago. This is easy to look up if you have Internet access, and is a great way to avoid the embarrassment of demontrating in pubic how you either don't know how to look stuff up you don't know about, or are too lazy to try '" ......... .......... I guess they aren't familiar with the O...

Being mostly offline for a week has made me very aware of just how much rage bait I see online. I felt so much more peaceful. I checked for messages, checked the weather, but basically avoided doomscrolling. Screen time went from 5 hours a day to 20 minutes. Heartily recommended.

I feel being involved in many community groups over the years has made me a bit cynical about anarchism. Over and over, there is so much personal conflict, so many folk just dragging all this baggage and creating dramas over nothing. People undermining each other. Usually older white guys - I think it's a power thing. They lack power elsewhere in their lives so they find it through whatever clubs or volunteer organizations they're in. But it's just exhausting and disappoi...

oh this sounds like fun. Spike Milligan meets Terry Pratchett - and Anne Boleyn has done away with Henry! I do quite like alternative histories and could use a laugh. https://www.overlondon.net/

One of the old latops I have has some worn out keys. I'm wondering if it's worth attempting to replace them. Using a plug-in keyboard was getting annoying. I already replaced the battery and it has a bit of life left in it, though not the greatest specs. It's a touchscreen, but doesn't work that great with just touch. I feel it has potential. Maybe for media and recipes in the kitchen.
