  I used to love reading technical blog posts. People describing their journey from little to no understanding to a more intimate knowledge of a system. Obstacles, hiccups, distractions, red herrings, yak shaving, successes, failures, and so on. Nowadays, posts like that are few and far between. Then: I wanted to make X do Y, so I had to figure out A, B, C, change D, etc. I failed at B, but then took a detour to M, that helped me do P and I got it to work. Now: I wanted to make X do Y, so I asked...
