I used to love reading technical blog posts. People describing their journey from little to no understanding to a more intimate knowledge of a system. Obstacles, hiccups, distractions, red herrings, yak shaving, successes, failures, and so on. Nowadays, posts like that are few and far between.
Then: I wanted to make X do Y, so I had to figure out A, B, C, change D, etc. I failed at B, but then took a detour to M, that helped me do P and I got it to work.
Now: I wanted to make X do Y, so I asked Claude to make X do Y and it did! Isn't Claude awesome?
Then: I was not sure how to approach X. I tried A and B, here are the reasons they weren't great. C had some issues, as well. I decided to go with B, due to the following trade-offs.
Now: I was not sure how to approach X. Claude suggested Y. Its reasoning looks sound, I went with Y. Isn't Claude awesome?
Then: I wanted to learn about X, here's what I figured out and what I did to get a deeper understanding of X.
Now: I asked an LLM to describe X to me. Isn't this LLM awesome?
