There’s a bot sitting in some of my meetings now telling us crap like we’re on topic or spitting out summary notes nobody will read. Meanwhile half of rural and or poor SE Michigan is being bought up for loud, polluting data centers. https://mastodon.online/@billyjoebowers/116954109691249901

The cluster fuck around executive function and dinner. Hungry but if I order something it’s expensive - I should buy groceries. But the Power went out last week so everything in the fridge needs to be tossed first before I put new things in. I’m still hungry. And as of yesterday the fridge is on the fritz so maybe I should replace it before I buy groceries.. I want a retro fridge but I should research them before buying one. And maybe mine will be fine a while longer… Also there’s some su...

This particular type of generated content is pointedly noxious - it exists entirely to trick people into believing a lie for attention. Not as a statement or commentary, but entirely as a capitalistic scheme to get clicks and therefore money. Thats not art - it’s a scam that robs photographers who ARE doing the work of blending real skill with the kismet they find in nature to bring awareness to how special this planet is. I hate it. https://mastodon.green/@CiaraNi/116452475774038820

Budget item for ICE to get smart glasses. No shock there. They’re building a database of everyone, obviously, for the purposes of widespread government surveillance. For every “yeah I guess that’s neat” use for smart glasses I’ve ever heard there’s a squadron of creepy abusive patriarchy control and abuse use cases. Guess which ones the people in power are going to fund.

While we’re at it. Pingree Detroit makes well crafted goods right here in the city, with materials that would’ve been wasted after car manufacturing. They employ Detroiters and veterans. https://pingreedetroit.com I am not a purse girl. I own two. They’re beautifully made. https://hachyderm.io/@amcvittie/116445942071325782

Woah. YES. THIS. This is the thing. It’s not that I’m “depleted” exactly. I’m not doing nothing. My brain is making defrag noises for the next several hours processing ALL THE INFO and feelings. https://sfba.social/@oldredsubby/116434176431374032

I am once again begging you to stop making AI reports of your user research because I’ve seen three different versions from 3 diff tools this week on the same research and they’re all making very plausible sounding, expensive and incorrect conclusions. How do I know that they were bad? I actually analyzed the data myself. In my brain. Cuz it’s my job.

“Amandeep Jutla, an associate research scientist at Columbia University studying the impact of AI chatbots, believes that one of the main reasons for users to spiral is the “anthropomorphic nature of the interface”. He adds that, unlike human conversations, which feature pushback and different perspectives tugging at each other, a user doesn’t receive any pushback during their conversations with chatbots: “The design of the product is pushing you away from reality. It’s pushing you away from oth...

The Trump administration just started giving away 93 MILLION ACRES of YOUR children’s and grandchildren’s lands. Once they’re gone, they’re gone forever. Logged. Mined. Paved. Gone. No more hunting, fishing, hiking, camping or biking. Sold off to billionaires. Stripped of beauty and value. If a nation doesn’t maintain its natural heritage and beauty wtf is the point of a country? I am so angry and fucking exhausted from their endless greed and evil and stupidity. This is a country in free fal...

“Judgment is politically vulnerable. Rules are not. The procedure exists to make discretion disappear, or seem to. The system’s actual flexibility lives entirely in this unacknowledged interpretive work, which means it can be removed by anyone who mistakes it for inefficiency.” https://mastodon.scot/@patrickhadfield/116295080773606177

Look closely at the second half of the article. What it says about process and human judgement and the metrics and assumptions we measure with. This isn’t really about AI. It’s about accountability and system design and power. My brain is jumping up and down at all the YES. THIS. https://mastodon.scot/@patrickhadfield/116295080773606177

Remember when people just tried to put accurate information up on the web instead of smashing the Big Auto Correct button hoping for real info? How’s this better than a few pages of info and search engines? How much did it cost financially and environmentally? Why is everything stupid? https://zeroes.ca/@tantramar/116289430399825981
