@galacticstone The problem is for many people, there's no alternative - Amazon is most of eCommerce and the smaller you are, the more it is. And unless you have a web team, Shopify and Woocommerce and stuff is just too difficult for most people to learn, let alone keep up to date.

@galacticstone Where I'm guilty - I pay for Prime because I get so much back from their card it's literally a 1.6% raise for me. It pays for itself more than 13x. And that's not all using it on Amazon. I have other cards but none that get that consistent level of points. I do make sure I never buy a sponsored product. What I hate is that I can no longer use Amazon as a search engine, and then go to a separate site for a better deal - they'll ban companies for t...

@galacticstone I hate how hard it is to leave big tech. Some of its a lack of comparable platforms, some of its price, some of it is the just tiny little UI things or stupid choices that alternatives do that make it so hard to leave. I've been using Google Workspace for free with my domain for 17 year, its real tough to leave. But I'm moving list by list to SimpleLogin. Deleting IG was easy. Threads too. Never was on FB, Tiktok. Left Twitter in a hurry the moment Elongated Musk...

@galacticstone That doesn't change anything. Amazon demands most-favored-nation status from its sellers. Take Anker, I love their stuff. It used to be, you could buy it on their site $10-15 cheaper. Now, its always the same price (But on Amazon, I get 5%+ back, on their site, I get 1%, maybe 2%) Amazon told them at some point, the pricing must be the same, or we kick you off Amazon. So, they raised their prices in their shop, making an extra 15%+.

@galacticstone Who's your ecom platform? Can you use other payment gateways? I'm in the same boat - I try to each week use big tech less and less and move another account, another list list etc. It's just so much work for a 20 year old digital footprint.

Youtube algo is nuts. I watched one short (which I almost never do) with Josh Johnson from the Daily Show and now 2 of the first 8 videos show him, 3 of the first 10, and he's in almost every row. This is where Google doesn't understand humans at all. Youtube, ads, emails, nothing! One instance - one search, one video, one email, etc does not equal interest.

The end of an Era starts now. Colbert's last show - and the last reason to ever turn on CBS again - starts now.

With all the location based laws, it's absolutely crazy that the internet doesn't have native location headers, you have to use a free limited service, or paid commercial service, to get a user's location. If governments want to enforce these, then they need to either mandate ISPs add headers with country and state, or provide a free service where users can go to download information that is assumed to be correct for legal reasons.

RE: https://mastodon.social/@zackwhittaker/116562360000833298 This looks like the next evolution of a ring of scammers and spammers I've been tracking for 2+ years who abuse two things: Microsoft's non-existent vetting and the ability to upload massive lists and send emails from new accounts, and using existing systems like Paypal and others to send an individual email to a single user, from a known and verified domain, using its own infrastructure, but sending it to a group ema...

Kash Patel is either trying to hide the truth, or severely misspoke. He said he took half as many days as his two prior predecessors *combined*. If Comey took 10 days off. And Wray Took 10 days off. And Patel took 10 days off. Then he would have taken the same as them, but half as many as them, combined.
