I know I'm far from the only OSM contributor to succumb to the lure of "fixing" things in Wikimedia Commons and related projects. I was pushed over the edge by the lack of photos of the Málaga Metro. Going out and taking photos to fill the gaps turned out to be the easy bit, compared to sorting out categories and wikidata links/labels. But I got there in the end, and now every station has at least 3 photos. Screenshot is the OsmAnd photo display for Paraninfo station. #OpenStre...

Did I run a whole half marathon just to take advantage of being able to clock up 5 new kilometres in Wandrer.earth, by running on streets closed to traffic? No. That would be crazy. Did I deliberately run close to the central reservations, so that Wandrer would be able to tell the route apart from parallel footpaths I&#39;ve already covered? Renfe&#39;s new tool for visualising the real-time position of long and medium distance trains is grimly fascinating. It&#39;s 10.30 a.m. and in the area of this map covering Algeciras, Málaga, Granada, and Almería - an area with well over 3 million inhabitants - only 5 trains are in motion (and only 1 of those is on time). The tool doesn&#39;t display substitute bus services - there are probably a few on the road north of Málaga, which is still cut off from the high speed network....

Photo taken a few minutes ago at Málaga María Zambrano station. Normally I would be pleased to get such a variety of trains into a single photo. But not today. Malaga remains cut off from the rest of the Spanish high-speed network by a landslide near Álora, with no immediate prospect of a restored service. So of all these trains, only the diesel railcar furthest from the camera can go anywhere. For the rest, the station is just a place to park. /ctd #trains #TrainTravel
