Government services and other essential services requiring an "app" of any kind should be illegal. Strong authentication, sure (where appropriate), but an open protocol (using standards, as far as possible), not "this software". Just make the ID card a FIDO token or something. :neocat_angry:

A dear friend of mine is urgently looking for a job in Germany, so they (plus partner and two cats) don't have to go back to USA. They have a math degree, experience as software tester, and would love to work at a library or teach, but at this point anything that pays the bills is good. Fluent German & English. What do I do if I notice a questionable-smelling pattern of open source contributions, but no clear proof of motivation or malice? A Github organization that looks like it's mostly commit farming and trying to collect un-/barely maintained projects, has a website that looks fishy (including mentioning having "supported" projects where someone got a trivial commit merged)… and then the only seemingly consistently active person in the group is trying to become a #Debian Maintainer ba...
