Let's talk AI for a few moments. For a lovely 🧵 of thoughts. I'll start with a few of hot takes. 1. If you're not using - for whatever reason - AI tooling like CoPilot, Cursor, Claude, or whatever, you probably could start counting the days until you're irrelevant in the industry. Go ahead and sign your career's death certificate, it's over. 2. 🧵 1/9

Ok, I'm going to rant for a moment. If you're setting up calls and sending an AI "person" to talk to me on the phone there are very few ways you don't get black listed/blocking/refusing business by me immediately. EVERYBODY else should start doing this too, it is unacceptable. All of these are based on really basic rules of honorable human interactions: don't lie, don't deceive, and be kind, don't assume what other's are from or dealing with. 1. 🧵 1/6

Over the last bunch of years there has been a massive consolidation of Social Media - largely from Twitter & Facebook (FB? maybe not) - to a dispersion of other options. Twitter is left with basically trash accounts and low-visibiility with almost zero productive conversations actually happening. But still cropping up every now and again. Truth social if you're a sychophant of Trumps. 🧵 1/3

Boggles my mind how myopic the media gets these days. “54 year old restaurant chain closing” with barely a word in the articles about why this is likely happening. Purchasing power is shot. Inflation is bad. The price of eating out is insane right now. Most people simply can’t do it on a regular basis. The idea that a mediocre mid-tier joint is gonna be doing well right now is laughable. 🧵 1/2

So seems like Linear and Luma are two products that are taking off. One is taking a clean and fast approach to product tracking and one is a cleaned up event system (compared to what has existed). Is that an accurate take?

Then IC comes on and says “attention attention this train is about to leave I don’t know who just stepped in this train.” Dear me. 🙄

RE: https://mas.to/@carnage4life/116949059940804954 Saw this coming from miles away. Salesforce has been, from its inception, an overly expensive and overly complex system just for “CRM” work and it’s always impressed me they pulled it off for this long!

When you're managing the state of your database and its respective schema, do you... 1. Setup migrations and have a folder with files, etc, that manage each state (version) of the database schema over time for history or... 2. Have a singular or set of current state of DDL for the active database state and let source control (i.e. git or whatever) manage the over time history of the database schema?

The Third Place Didn’t Vanish. We Zoned It Out, Priced It Out, and Drove Past It. The concept of "third places," introduced by Ray Oldenburg, highlights social spaces outside home and work, crucial for community connection. Unfortunately, American urban planning has systematically eliminated these places, leading to rising loneliness. Solutions include creating walkable, mixed-use environments that prioritize free access to genuine public spaces, fostering social interaction and belon...

It’s been 3 years or so since I’ve ridden Amtrak on an overnight route. To kick things back off in a royal way, I’m taking the Empire Builder to Chicago, transferring to the Capitol Limited with a destination of Pittsburgh. See ya in a while Seattle. 🤙🏻

McDonald’s is seriously shit these days. It’s just a campy place to sit while machines and some behind the machines churns out meh food. The aura is bad. 😑 Need the return of some humans and clowns and nasty ball pits or something. But meh, I guess don’t do it for me constituency, we’re not the target market for anything.

I'm watching Matt Pocock's "Full Walkthrough: Workflow for AI Coding". The reason is, I've decided after months of not watching any talks or consuming any content related to AI - just trying it and doing it - I figured I'd start watching some videos and consuming some content of what others' have tried. https://youtu.be/-QFHIoCo-Ko?si=YwV2G1yv8P3_uz5k

From now on, it's not that you're "pulling an all nighter to hack through some code". It is you're having a "Vibe Coding Slumber Party!"

I wrote a post, adding to what @olearycrew wrote on his blog "The AI Coding Revolution Hasn't Started Yet" in which I agree and add more argument to the mix. https://compositecode.blog/2026/05/26/the-gap-is-widening-and-its-not-slowing-down/

I don't drive much, maybe a total of 500 miles in one year, and my life has been a thousand times better for it. But recently I've driven a few times and have discovered the shit scum Taxi Prius drivers. WTF is wrong with these assholes?!? Right on your tail, super angry, then darting (sometimes dangerously) around to get in front and then effectively got the exact same speed. Is there some mental defect between "Taxi Driver/Ride Share" and "Prius&...

The 2 Line across Lake Washington is finally real. The opening of the Crosslake Connection on March 28, 2026, marks a significant advancement in Seattle's transportation system, interlinking Redmond, Bellevue, Mercer Island, and Seattle into a cohesive light rail network. This development enhances service frequency and alleviates traffic congestion. Observed passenger loads indicate a healthy balance, suggesting gradual habit formation among riders and promising integration with local b...

Last set. It’s been a week and a half. If only there was enough time to elaborate it’d be a grand adventure of a story to tell. 🧵
