I need enough money and power to seize control of Mastodon development to add the most critical missing feature: Footnotes.

The fun thing about Extreme Programming is the system that is always referenced as being where it comes from was apparently a disaster.

So yesterday I got a 3D printer, a number of filament storage/drying containers and about 20 spools of filament, mostly PLA and TPU. Setting the printer up is probably a weekend task. Is it traditional that the first things you print after the test print are things for the printer itself?

The appropriate response to the "Don't You Know Who I Am?" posts bemoaning the lack of "reach" around here is "No and I intend to keep it that way."

I do wonder if teaching things like cold reading in schools would help raise awareness of how easy we are to fool. How do we instil an understanding that "looks like it works" and "actually works" are very different things?

If I ever run for parliament, and much of my social media use is aimed at making sure no one ever asks, I will run under the banner of the single issue Get In The Sea Party. I don't even need to make a website because @AppeasePoseidon already has. https://getinthesea.au/

Thinking about how I've literally seen someone's brain switch off when an LLM says something is an option and they just instantly and uncritically accepted that it was. It was weird.

Cloud has brought a number of predictable issues. Notably the hardware knows we can no longer get at it with an axe, and it’s getting smug.

I’d like to make it clear that @jpm can opt out of The Curse at any time by disabling it in Settings. And that apparently qualifies as consent these days according to enormous tech companies. And if you can’t trust an enormous tech company that shows you have a solid grasp on reality.
