That’s the question, isn’t it? I think for some things it will work out, but as we are seeing with programming: the problem isn’t apparent in surface level, but in real understanding. And if a certain task need an understanding to apply knowledge, LLM can’t help with that.

Call of the Sea, a cozy Lovecraft game?
This is a story focused puzzle game where you are on a tropical island in 1934, investigating the disappearance of your husband and his expedition on this exact island. The puzzles are not Baba is You level, but also not too easy so that you just run through. The main focus is the story and reaching new areasby solving the puzzles. There is a linear progression from level to level, but each section is a nice looking area you can walk around in. There is no action though, which gave my expe...

It’s nearly 10 years ago, so I’m not sure anymore how it went exactly, but what I remember: Phil Fish was an active part of an online forum for indie developer. His personality was brash/rude/unfiltered, however you want to call it, meaning his answers were right, but he also made fun of the people who did the mistake. After becoming famous, more people learned of that and said: you are famous now, you should behave better and not be rude to other small developers. At least that is what I hear...

No idea what he is doing now. I just know he quit developing nearly 10 years ago and never heard of him again. So he seems to stick to his decision

Her Story, an unconvential puzzle game
No idea if there is now a name for this kind of “crawling through archives” puzzle game, but this was the first and only one that I played with this mechanic. Her story is a puzzle game where you sit in front of a police database software with videos of interviews with the titular her woman. The interviews are cut into many smaller fragments and you can search the database for key words. You then get presented all the videos where that keyword was spoken. The catch is that the database softwar...

Fez, a nifty platformer with heart
Fez is a nice 2D platformer where the unique mechanic is that the world is 3D in reality and you can shift the world in 90° angles, whereby you can then reach new platforms and places, because now the backwall is suddenly a 2 block high platform that you can jump on. You play as a cute little dude who gets the titular fez, which gives you the world turning power. Then you explore to your own liking and solve secrets to find cubes. A bit like The Witness in that regard. There is no real story...

Castlevania: Lords of Shadows 2, more Metroidvania than its predecessor, but worse story
I recently finished LoS2, including the DLC, and while I highly enjoyed the design of Castlevania, the castle, I didn’t really enjoy the increased Metroidvania aspect in the gameplay. The reason for that is that it didn’t really led to “wow I want to explore that later” feeling, but only “great, another ability-gate, nice that I wasted my time exploring this side path”. And there is no world map so you can mark it for later. To accommodate for that, they included an item that shows you where the...

Finished System Shock Remake, I now understand why the original is seen as gaming milestone
I finally finished the System Shock Remake and I was surprised how much this game already got right in its original installment in sense of story progression and open world level design, but also how much they improved the general gameplay and graphics with the remake. The new lightning effects and graphics in general are of course much better than the 20+ years old original, only downside there is that they made everything bright enough, that you never need the vision enhancements. Sadly th...

Not solvable, since the logarithm base 1 of 10 is impossible to solve. 1 to the power of any number is still 1. Seems somebody doesn’t want to be called. (Also the variable f is never defined, so that’s another point to “doesn’t want to be called”)

Huh, I would not have thought the Game Bakers being that shitty as developers. I really liked Furi and Haven. A Cairn is also pretty successful, so it would be nice if they finished their earlier game, where people supported them while they were small.

Supreme Commander: Forged Alliance, 18 years old titan and still the greatest strategy game of it's kind
Yes it hurt looking up how old this game is already. But to those who don’t know it: why is this game so great? Because it’s lineage (from Total Annihilation to Beyond All Reason) is the only militaristic sci-fi strategy game I know, where it’s really a resource flow: you generate them, store them and then use them. You have an upper limit of depot space, so you can’t just hoard resources like in other games and then just instant build another army but rather need to smartly build your eco...

What is your most loved game manual moment?
Since somebody shared this nice comic about manuals in games in another community, I was thinking about them myself. My most cherished game manual was the Diablo 2 one. The way they created a little story for each single ability was such an atmospheric wonder and probably started my fascination with lore instead of story. They were also probably the main reason why I took the necromancer and started to feel bored, when necromancer are automatically evil in a setting. Get creative! My father...

And Stalin… At least if you think impregnating a 14 year old (Lidia Pereprygina) makes you a peodophile.

This is so dumb. I never believed the hype around CEOs, but I still thought they needed to have something, anything, to reach their position. But the artificial dumbness time really reveals how many of them simply had simply dumb luck and no morals. And that was apparently enough for all of human history because their underlings protected them from acting to stupid. And now they think they don’t need those underlings anymore. Well, at least I can laugh myself to death before the climate wars.

Oh for sure! I just thought in their heads was a certain kind of business savvyness to reach their position. But it seems they just hear the echo of their own voice.
