  I was reminded today of the day I knew I had reached old man status. On base. Walking towards the gym entrance. A female Marine and I were approaching from opposite directions, about equal distance. Just as we're reaching the door, she jumps forward, grabs the door, opens it for me, and says, "After you, sir!"   My husband and I went to see Project Hail Mary this afternoon. I loved the book. The movie was a great disappointment. To anyone who hasn't read the book it will be an even worse movie. In short, whether you've read the book or not, my recommendation is to wait for it to come to cable. We were both masked, of course, despite the theater policy of not allowing masks. And we had no trouble, except for the couple who decided they HAD to sit right next to us. 😒 #ProjectHailMary

  It makes me so angry that @stux has to constantly beg users for help to keep that instance going. The man has to pay rent besides running mstdn.social. It just isn't fair to him. Mstdn.Social has 13,000+ users. If every user paid JUST $1 each month, he could do that full time, and mstdn would have the latest, greatest servers. But no.   Now that we're at the end of March, I can say I've bought nothing but groceries and medication for the entire month. That being done, I think I'll extend that. See how long I can go with spending only on the barest essentials. It's also been a month without any filters or blocks on this site, but I may have to start filtering again. The amount of political tomfoolery about which I care not a whit can be a bit much.

  It was such a spring-like day, we decided to echo that with dinner tonight. Roast asparagus with a little lemon, we cut our pasts thin (cappelini-esque?) and topped it with peas and parsley, and did a crispy-skinned salmon.

  I'm currently reading Frank Herbert's "Dune" for the first time. I was struck by this passage. It comes right after the Reverend Mother has tested Paul Atreides. She is talking with him.   The thing about the Apple Neo - back in the before-fore times, I was able to attach my Lumia to a keyboard and monitor and use it like a PC. Why don't today's phones do that? Dock your iPhone into a device and run it all with a full sized keyboard and a decent monitor. But I'm just a frozen caveman, so...
