Fleadh Cheoil na hÉireann showing what Belfast could be with much of the town pedestrianised. It’s great to move around without having to endlessly wait to cross the road.

The word ‘elite’ when applied to a business of any type always, without exception, means the opposite in reality. What other words work the same way?

Anyone skilled with #freepbx I’m trying to replace an elderly install that’s always had a bit of trouble with flaky internet (the sip driver is old and discontinued I think) but the new one (latest build) doesn’t work for incoming calls because it doesn’t see the ID number for the incoming extension.

I don’t suppose anyone knows how to fix an issue of #oktaverify selecting the wrong account for a service. Works just fine for me and two of my colleagues but not two others… we are mere users and cannot access any of the administration.

Today I lost an extraordinary amount of time to the cache of unbound DNS on my opnsense firewall. I thought I was looking at the new webhost when actually it was the old one. Such an rookie error... very annoying though.

Ever so brief viking funeral for my linode host. HappyPenguin served me very well for quite a few years but a combination of a slightly annoying upgrade path and ever increasing costs since the Akamai buyout means it's time to for this VM to be pushed down a virtual river on virtual fire.

Had a very pleasant week off work, hanging around in county Cork, but back to reality with an unpleasantly early thud with a 4.30 am alarm tomorrow. Back to the customer that are impossible to please and live in an alternate reality when it comes to what they think they can do.. ah well.

Borrowed a mate's Access Virus TI and spent a happy afternoon pissing around with the weird sounds... then came up with this absolute nonsense.

I’ve noted that lots of websites now offer accepting the poisoned cookies or paying up. Thanks for confirming you’re getting paid to pass on the questionable cookie. It’s useful. I just leave, every time.

I see Dawkins has soiled the bed again. Much as I don’t like the man at all, he’s clearly very clever. However he’s an academic and, having worked at a university, I’ve met many. The experience taught me there’s a special kind of incredible stupidity demonstrated by very smart people. It’s especially devoid of any self awareness.

It seems attacking one’s own country in this way gets results… won’t help of course because we’re likely to see fuel rationing imposed and once you can’t get any, the price is relatively academic. https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/cy519664lqro

When I tell people what we paid for electricity over the last year (about £1500) they’re astounded how cheap our heat pump is to run. Then I point out that includes driving around 10,000 miles and all our cooking. I was able to say this to a guy who popped round for some free concrete blocks and asked about the heat pump. Fair to say he was aghast…. Given what he’d just been quoted for a tank of heating oil. #heatpump #oilprice #domesticenergy #solar

I see the farmers of Northern Ireland have money and time to burn on unnecessary journeys in heavy machinery aimed at inconveniencing everyone else. Great job https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/cx2e8wevpwyo
