For any of you who want to know what will happen with NASA's Artemis 2 mission post-launch, space.com has an article on it. https://www.space.com/space-exploration/missions/artemis-2-breakdown-what-to-expect-from-each-day-of-nasas-historic-moon-mission #NASA #Astronautics #Artemis #Artemis2

When will the Artemis program have done enough to have a book written about it? And how long will it take for the details of those accomplishments to trickle down to the authors? #NASA #Astronautics #Artemis #Artemis2

@fembot That article is from last year. Trump's budget was rejected, [^1] and Artemis 4 & 5 have since been funded [^2] (but the first moon landing is now Artemis 4 [^3]). This isn't to say that Trump's proposed NASA budget didn't do significant damage, though. Blue Origin just successfully reused the lower stage of their heavy-life launch vehicle. The engines were new and some of the avionics were upgraded, but it's still really exciting. Especially since they landed it again. I can't wait to see what kind of impact this will have on the launch market. https://www.space.com/space-exploration/launches-spacecraft/blue-origin-reuses-new-glenn-rocket-landing-success-1st-time-on-april-19-2026-video #Astronautics #BlueOrigin #NewGlenn #NA...

Wait, it was an upper stage failure? That's nice to hear. I was worried that reusing the lower stage was being problematic, but it might just be that Blue Origin needs more experience in orbital launches. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gl-ktnZKepQ #Astronautics #BlueOrigin #NASA #Artemis #Artemis3 #NewGlenn

I'm not all that interested in astronomy, but this is pretty exiting. I hope Roman immediately produces a beautiful wallpaper like JWST did. Scientific data is… also cool. https://www.space.com/space-exploration/the-nancy-grace-roman-space-telescope-nasas-next-great-observatory-is-finally-complete

RE: https://mastodon.neat.computer/@jonah/116455673652355215 This quote is out of context. It's supposed to be prefaced with: "…if as a society we conclude that… age-verification… is both necessary and inevitable…" They also specify that: • It should be done client-side • The "age signal" should be binary. • It should only be required for social media, porn, etc. • The age signal should be e2ee & anonymized • The entire system should be ope...
