#ExplainItLikeImAChild #HashTagGames The human mind has three layers. We're a lizard brain under a pack mammal brain overseen by a human brain. The lizard brain handles things like hunger, and the fight or flight reflex. The pack mammal brain handles our social emotions so that a tribe of angry violent sapient apes can live together without killing each other. The human brain handles things like language and algebra. There are three different types of power to control another person de...

#writing #writer #writers #writingCommunity I thought maybe someone would want to be a part of this. It's a cut-n-paste from an email and lost the links, but you could just go to the Vagina Museum's site if interested. Call for Submissions ==================== Lip Service invites visual, fiction, and non-fiction submissions for Issue #7 – On Ageing Lip Service is a quarterly publication by the Vagina Museum in the style of old school community magazines. In this A5 zine, the conten...

#PennedPossibilities 999 — How often does your MC bathe or shower? Do others around them consider this to be of normal frequency? Why or why not? Are you running out of ideas? Outside of sex and horror scenes, I can't recall any instance of fiction focusing on bathing. At all. It's akin to including a paragraph about the protagonist taking a shit. (Which actually now sounds like something I want to make work :) But seriously--when have you ever interacted with a story that...

#ScribesAndMakers 18 reading aloud I dated a woman who had a hard time falling asleep. I probably read her a dozen whole Discworld books to ease her passage over the years. These days I read to a blind guy over the phone.

Question for non-Americans: Do houses of worship and associated business properties pay taxes in your country? Are they allowed to openly tell their worshipers who to vote for? In the US, churches are tax exempt but supposed to stay out of the political process. It obviously doesn't work well here. I was wondering what other systems have been tried.

@linux Hello all! I recently got an old Dell laptop that had been repurposed as a Linux Mint machine. I was setting it up and fell at the first hurdle. I tried to install ExpressVPN. The install package downloaded fine, but took two hours to extract and failed for "bad characters". I fiddled with it for a while and couldn't do better. First, it's the VPN software for Linux desktop, since they didn't have one for laptops. Could this be the proble...

The authorities have tried to set me up with jailbait twice. Once I had to walk away because she kept trying to get in my pants. Sorry. I'm 25. You're sixteen. It ain't gonna happen. The other one I took under my wing. I was a big brother to her. I provided emotional support. I took her to court for a custody hearing over her kid. She was freaking out, so I gave her a klonopin. Bad move. I've been really good at drugs for a long time, but she'...

In high school, Stoney stole a cop's badge while being arrested. He walked around the whole next day flashing it and going, "Officer Smith! Up against the wall!" I bet they beat the shit out of him over that one.

Just saying "Hi", everybody. I'm fine, it's just that my internet is down. Well, not totally fine. I went as far as you can go with alcohol without actually dying. I went to an outpatient rehab to get six days of antiseizure to dry out at home and they ran some bloodwork and freaked. "Get this man to the ICU!" The day I checked in, they ran my numbers through a simulator and gave me a 50% chance of being dead in three months. Two days la...
