Over 25 years of dealing with bitwise operators and if I don't deal with them regularly (which is pretty much usually the case these days), I have to look up how that shit works and re-learn it every single time. It's a small thing, but you'd think it'd stick eventually...

Going through LEDs for this little tinkering effort of mine, and there's something perfect about going through my boxes of various colors, looking for what feels right for what basically is a one off homebrew creation. I'm in my happy place.

Been mucking about with getting a Forgejo VM set up this morning so I am managing my little snippets of software a bit better than the git repo zfs volume thing I've been doing for years, and I have to say I'm impressed with how easy it was to setup. Spent the afternoon moving furniture around so I haven't done much with it yet, but I suspect that's coming.

Joy of the day: Seeing a local hummingbird cleaning the windows of cobwebs for nest building purposes. Also, never really got to hear one flying before, and just happened to have the windows open. They sound like little lightsabers waving around!

Searching through this drawer set I rescued out of a building getting cleaned out, in search of some 7805s, and now I'm remembering that the reason I grabbed it is that it has so many oddball and rare motorola transistors and oddball JFETs from the 80s/90s. I think I have more TO-3 LM317s than I know what to do with!

Me: I just gotta get the rest of these SyncE/PTP timing proposals written up. The rest of my brain, making up stuff to fit the TMNT song/logo: Heh, "funky chicken dating service" fits.

House network reconfiguration day for me today due to equipment failures and some changing office/lab equipment needs. Turns out to work around this failed multigig SFP+, it was cheaper to get a 5-port 2.5gbit / 10g uplink managed switch than it was to replace it. 2.5/5/10 gbase-whatever SFP are abominations anyway, so it seemed like a good move, so that's what I did. And, I'm unsurprisingly having fewer problems with the 2.5g NIC plugged into it than I did before, even with the extr...

Of all the "this is why your print failed to start" reasons, finding a dead stinkbug blocking the filament guide in the MMU was not one I was expecting.
