18/07/2026 - A few lovely wild flowers I saw on my walk along the coast at St Cyrus for #WildFlowerHour. The wild flowers are different to the ones I see round Aberdeen 50 miles north. I wonder if it's due to being the other side of the Highland Boundary Fault Restharrow Hare's-foot Clover Clustered Bellflower Wood Vetch #WildFlowers

06/07/2026 - Evening walk after work. After a windy few days there were a lot of samaras down from the different maple trees. There are 4 maples in the "wild" round my way. Wild being anything by the roadsides. I'm not counting all the weird and wonderful maples in folk's gardens (Smooth Japanese-maple seems very popular here). It was nice to compare the size and shape of these 4 samaras winged fruits or as I called them helicopters. Sycamore Field Maple Cappadocian Maple Nor...

04/07/2026 - 3 buses to get to Pitmedden Garden and all I got was a turnip sawfly! I did see a few more bugs to be honest. I'd gone for hoverflies but it was pretty overcast whilst there and those hoverflies are proper sun worshipers so there wasn't much about. I did see a furry dronefly which was nice. Plenty bumblebees and wasps too. The garden is a peaceful place to spend a day. The flowers are lovely. The buses there and back too are good. The journey is through some lovely countrys...

30/06/2026 - I had a morning walk round the hill before the rain. Lots of wild flowers about but it was the purple ones that I liked the best today. Marsh Thistle Spear Thistle Creeping Thistle Common Knapweed #WildFlowers

15/06/2026 - Day out in the Ladder Hills., the borderlands between Aberdeenshire and Moray. It was pretty wonderful. Lot's of wild flowers, mosses and lichens to look at. Birds were great too, golden eagle, ring ouzel, common sandpiper and red kite. Top walk, happy Spaceways today.

08/06/2025 - A sunny slow walk to look for wild flowers. We took butties and had a nice sit under larch trees. A day that was good for the head. A few nice wild flowers we met along the way. Bitter-vetch - Nice to find some still in flower. Chickweed-wintergreen - A lovely flower. A lot in the wood this year. Hairy Tare - A favourite of mine. So tiny. Corn Spurrey - Good to find these again this year. #WildFlowerHour #PeaFamily #WildFlowers

09/04/2026 - Evening walk through twilight. Song thrush and blackbird singing loud, distant grey partridge calling in the fields and male and female tawny owl chatting to each other in the trees. I love to hear the twilight birds as they get ready for the night. #EveningWalk

24/02/2026 - A lovely tree from my evening walk today for #ThickTrunkTuesday I think it&#39;s an old white poplar. I&#39;m not very good with id without leaves! Just trunks are tricky. This tree has such wonderful fissures. #EveningWalk #Trees
