Palantir is a firm known for alleged human rights breaches, violent immigration raids, and accusations of targeting Palestinian civilians. They have no place in the Scottish public sector, and their involvement with the British state raises serious concerns about data privacy and human rights. https://www.thenational.scot/news/26699423.snp-urged-keep-technofascist-palantir-public-sector/

Under Nicola Sturgeon in 2019, Scotland declared a climate emergency. When the Scottish Greens entered government in 2021, we worked hard to turn that declaration into action. But since we left government, the SNP’s stance on climate has become increasingly unrecognisable. https://www.thenational.scot/politics/26683049.snp-seem-interested-keeping-fossil-fuel-lobby-happy/

Scotland's beavers continue to go from strength to strength since being reintroduced in 2009. Driven to extinction hundreds of years ago, they help protect and restore our biodiversity, creating essential wetland habitats that help other wildlife. https://www.thenational.scot/news/26684789.beavers-reintroduced-loch-ness-500-year-absence

Business flights within the UK are literally fuelling climate breakdown. The Scottish Greens would tax those super-wealthy frequent flyers to fund a millennial railcard for those who currently cannot access discounts on rail travel to make public transport cheaper for everyone.

It's simply not good enough for the First Minister to sit on the fence when it comes to new oil and gas. John Swinney can double down on fossil fuels. Or he can protect our future generations from climate breakdown. But he can’t do both. He must tell the people of Scotland where he stands.

Scottish people are paying the price for soaring energy costs while fossil fuel companies are turning record profits. Today, Labour had a chance cut household energy bills by taxing fossil fuel profits. Instead, they are letting these companies off the hook.

Shell has reported a massive $10.1 billion profit in the last quarter. Meanwhile, Scottish households face a winter of extortionate energy bills. This isn't fair. The system is broken. These obscene profits should be used to cut household bills, not line the pockets of millionaire shareholders.

Attempts to shine a light on the situation in Palestine must not be silenced. Palestinians must not be abandoned and left to face ethnic cleansing and genocide in silence. Everyone can get a discount railcard except those in their 30s and 40s. It's time for that to change. By introducing a millennial railcard for 31-49 year olds, we can encourage use of public transport, reduce our emissions, and put money back in people's pockets. 👉 https://greens.scot/news/greens-call-for-millennial-railcard-funded-by-taxing-frequent-flyers

The UK Government’s approval of the Jackdaw gas field is a climate catastrophe. It'll do nothing to lower household bills. It'll have no meaningful impact on the UK’s energy security. It'll only help greedy shareholders rake in obscene profits. https://greens.scot/news/jackdaw-is-a-climate-catastrophe

Families on their annual holiday shouldn’t pay the same rate of tax as wealthy and business travellers who fly on a weekly basis. Scottish Greens would tax the super-rich frequent flyers who are wrecking our climate.

Companies like Amazon profited from our communities while giving far too little back. Scottish Greens would tax billionaire online retailers and use the money raised to support small businesses on our high streets.

Jackdaw will do nothing for the people of Scotland. Plans show it will provide just 2% of UK gas demand, only create 27 jobs, and it will leave us more dependent on gas despite its global fluctuating prices. Investing in renewables will create thousands of jobs and cut household energy bills.

Jackdaw won't bring down bills or create many jobs. But it will leave us even more dependent on volatile global gas markets, and worsen the climate chaos we already see around us. It's shocking that no other party is willing to stand up for our planet against the greed of oil and gas companies.

🚨 BREAKING: The UK Labour Government have approved the Jackdaw gas field. This a devastating betrayal of future generations. Jackdaw will make the UK even more dependent on the global gas market. This will do nothing to lower household energy bills and it is dishonest to pretend that it will.

BBC Scotland has been a launchpad for a lot of Scottish creative talent; closing it is a massive step backwards. There is already a significant gap between the BBC’s licence fee income in Scotland and its identified spend in our country. Scotland deserves better.

Communities are worried about the huge boom in hyperscale data centre applications. Last month, Parliament backed Green proposals to pause new applications, but the Scottish Government have taken no action to make the pause a reality. We need action, not words from the Government.

Drilling for new oil and gas won't cut household bills. The best way to save people money and create secure, well-paid, unionised jobs in the North East is by investing in renewables. #bbcdn

In just two months there were 2,700 excess deaths in England and Wales related to the heatwaves. Each one leaves behind a grieving family. Houses, workplaces, cities, the NHS, social care and more all need to be equipped to respond to longer, hotter summers. https://www.thenational.scot/news/26279285.scotland-cannot-afford-ignore-heatwave-risks-greens-warn/

Investigative journalists found that the Scottish Government was lobbied by industry to use the phrase ‘green data centre’. The government must ensure the views of communities are listened to, not just lobbyists. #FMQs

12 years ago the Conservatives promised Scotland ‘devo-max’. Now they show contempt for democracy and plan a powergrab of devolved powers. When we reject them at the ballot box, their answer isn't to improve their policies, it's to threaten the Parliament Scotland elected.
