Seeking advice: at a meeting, a person who uses hearing aids tried to attend but was unable to because 4 of us were wearing opaque masks and she relies on reading lips. I tried to brainstorm possible solutions, including offering to transcribe by hand and asking if she used a signed language (no). We thought of getting clear masks in the future. She ended up just leaving and we sent her notes. :/ Wondering what y’all do to include d/Deaf/HoH folks in masked environments. #askFedi #accessibility

@mayintoronto I wouldn’t because leaving others to clean up messes without even pointing out what those messes are does not indicate that the person would be a good mentor at this time. I think that speakers should be people willing to answer questions and help people along. This person should have space to attend and continue to grow but speaking at this time seems inappropriate. But maybe you have a different expectation of speakers.

A bird flew into the window at work and I freaked out but it was ok. I looked up what to do and wikihow said just watch for 5 minutes without interfering and I did &amp; she woke up!!!! This is her after waking up and immediately flying into another glass door but then I opened the door to shoo her and she flew away successfully
