  I know that to make this claim is to throw down the gauntlet and invite a nerd-off on the nerdiest social media platform in the world, but I make it nonetheless: I tracked down and purchased the nerdiest book ever published, J. Ballmann's "The 1964 New York Comicon: The True Story Behind the World's First Comic Convention" (2016, Totalmojo Productions, Inc.) "Definitive" is the correct adjective to describe this tome.

  A few years ago, I was asking for help in counting the number of characters in responses so that I could get the average response length for each respondent, and some power user gave me a miracle formula that only had to be pasted in the top cell of a column. It started "=let" and included stuff like "wraprows" and "reduce" and "lambda" and "Σ." I never understood it, but it worked for me then and I used it for several years. (cont) #spreadsheet...

  I wonder what Ninja Aquaman's final body count was in Waterworld. He killed a heck of a lot of people. (It was somewhat poignant when the guy forced to live inside the oil tank in a tiny boat said, "Thank god" when he saw the flare falling.) #Monsterdon

  I feel pretty sure I saw this in the theater in 1995, which must have been in Japan, but I remember nothing. Zip. Nada. Then again, my son was two at the time. Not sure how my then-partner and I could have gone to see a movie, unless we left him with his grandparents. Also not sure this would have been a film my then-partner would have been interested in seeing. The film's no great shakes, but it's better than I had thought it would be. The humor is pretty solid. #Monsterdon

  Monsterdon is doing Waterworld now, but I won't use the hashtag, since this is a tangent. Maybe I am remembering wrong, and maybe someone who visited Universal Studios Japan when it first opened can correct me, but I seem to remember that both the Waterworld and Jaws attractions were played "straight" originally.   The more I think about it, the more I think "Wolfen" was the "worst" #Monsterdon movie. It was too well-crafted to joke about the production values or acting, yet it was also really problematic, in an unfunny way. Let this be a lesson to us all, I suppose.

  I'm watching Wolfen hours after the rest of you. As I think others said, it's too good for a #Monsterdon movie, and it's such a pensive, low-key film that I can't imagine there was a lot to talk about, beyond production details and late-seventies white fetishization of Native Americans. Still, I'm really glad I got a chance to watch this. I was wondering what they were going to do with the last 20 minutes after the big reveal in the bar, but they sure packed a lot in.
