Well that was a beautiful setting for #parkrun this morning. Four laps around playing fields and park next to Tewkesbury Abbey. Apparently it was under water due to flooding from January to March. Dry as a bone today.

Fabulous walk in the Black Mountains of #Powys today, close to Offa’s Dyke. Huge views from Lord Hereford’s Knob [stop giggling] and stunning scenery along Gospel Pass. Coffee in Hay-On-Wye castle to end the day trip. Perfect 😊 #GetOutside #Mountains #Cymru #hiking

No smoke this morning. Just a different wind pattern rather than a reduction in scale #wildfire BBC report: ‘smoke from the fire at Blaenavon, which covers 220 hectares (543 acres), travelled as far as Cardiff… currently no threat to life or property… The fire is expected to continue burning for several days… South Wales Fire and Rescue Service said the Met Office expected the plume of smoke would settle lower overnight, after being sent east towards Newport earlier on Thursday.’

Took advantage of cleaner air and relatively cooler temperature to get in a reservoir run. Not a lot of energy this morning so cut the run short and walked the last loop enjoying the scenery and bird life. Lots of fluffy cute Coot babies. Bottom reservoir lake level very low.

RE: https://mastodon.social/@lemonde/116973992307624422 Most of my childhood family summer holidays were spent camping in France. As a parent I also spent summer holidays with my family in France and many of those were in the south west. I only recall one year in 20 plus that coincided with a serious heatwave - people dying in Paris at 40° How things have changed. Just awful to see this destruction. #climateEmergency

Stunning views on today’s hike on the Isle of Purbeck. Circular peninsula walk from Studland South Beach NT car park, taking in Old Harry’s Rocks. A touch of mad dogs and [Welsh]men and midday sun perhaps but a lovely pub at the end. It was worth it… #GetOutside #hiking #CostaDelDorset

#gardening friends - looking for advice on which side of this gateway to place the pot with my new climbing #rose (Strawberry Hill). The first picture is taken looking directly south, just after 9am on an exceptionally hot morning in Cardiff 🏴 Right or left side to make it naturally want to grow across the arch?

Lunch break with my roses. The white one came with house and was totally smothered by mature shrubs that we removed. This year it’s really glorious ☺️ #BloomScrolling
