#gardening friends - looking for advice on which side of this gateway to place the pot with my new climbing #rose (Strawberry Hill).
The first picture is taken looking directly south, just after 9am on an exceptionally hot morning in Cardiff 🏴
Right or left side to make it naturally want to grow across the arch?

On the far side. It will mask your water pipe.

@RHD@toot.wales It will be fine on either side as it will get a nice amount of sun regardless. I'd probably position the pot where it already is as it's the least likely placing to impact your walking space and won't block the french window. You'll have to tie it in regardless of where you place it, they don't naturally grow across supports. It's easy to do in autumn or spring :)

@RHD@toot.wales Good morning! Plants grow toward the sun, so planting on whichever side of the arch will help the rose naturally want to span the trellis, would be easier. And as noted by the first response, you will have to tie it on.
