  #ThreeGoodThings #3GoodThings 1. Dinner was bubble and squeak, fried with lots of butter. Extreme yum. A diced salad of yellow pepper, tomato, and cucumber made it healthy. 2. A lovely day. No real arguments. Some cuddles. We looked after his hands and feet. 3. The scenery is spectacular in "rural" England. #food

  1. He's not dead yet, and we're still enjoying England together. 2. I'd been wondering, but now I know how it will end, so I can stop wondering. The Hand Foot Syndrome (HFS) will worsen to Grade 3 HFS a few times over, the oncologist will permanently stop Capecitabine treatment, the tumours will grow/spread, the pain will return, and then it's palliative care. 3. We're only at Grade 2 HFS. I guess today's #3GoodThings are relative.

  OK. #ThreeGoodThings 1. He says, "Thank you, Sweetie, for taking such good care of me" though I don't feel like it's a chore that needs thanks. It's an 'of course' thing. 2. The soles of his feet may be improving slightly, although his toes looked rough last night, like they might lose their skin. 3. He was pleased with the croissant I bought for his breakfast, and also had two bites of sausage. Glad he's eating because—I lied—I actually can see he's lost...

  It's too soon to speak of a trend, especially since there are 4 variables that have changed, but he says the nerves in his feet are reporting different sensations. Not normal ones, just different ones. We're hopeful that change might mean some neural regeneration, so walking gets easier? And, his hair is growing back. I do worry, now that we've lowered the chemo dose, that the tumour will grow again. He's finally begun doing some of the things he wanted to do h...

  A survey by TV show HART VAN NEDERLAND (a long-running, news-like program) revealed in February that nearly a third of Dutch drivers have at some point found themselves in an "undesirable situation" as a result of following their navigation system that uses GPS and a digital map.   #ThreeGoodThings 1.🦶🏼 As I have for decades, at bedtime I rub his feet, which he enjoys immensely. Now I'm applying lanoline along with the regular loving foot squeezes. 2.🖌️ He started painting today, which he always enjoyed. Apparently he feels he can hold and handle a brush, which is encouraging. 3.🍸 He asked for a fizzy drink that's less plain (but that gets along with his now rebellious chemo taste buds). I found a lime-and-mint cordial, which he can taste and which he likes. #3Go...

  1. He now has a prescription to reduce the chemo-induced pain and tingling in hands and feet (also known as neuropathy). Vitamin B6. The side effect of taking too much B6 is … neuropathy. 🤣 2. His subcutaneous port has been flushed. It took a bit of convincing because he wanted to wait until the next cycle, but 9½ weeks would be beyond the recommended 4-to-8 weeks. 3. The nurse explained all the new meds, clearly and patiently, until he was no longer confused. ❤️ #ThreeGoodThings #3GoodThings

  I was sitting on a bus bench. This guy walked by with a rottweiler dog—a BIG version. The guy walked right by, but the dog plunked its big head right in my seated lap. No hesitation, more like, "I've arrived, sorry I'm late!" "Hi!" said I. "You're lovely." "What are you doing?!" snapped the guy to his dog as he dragged it off. I know which of those two is better behaved in public. #dog

  Just remembering different things about Australia. For a warm break in winter, Aussies drive north. The starry night sky feels like from another planet.
