Sent my preferred human a recording of me playing a new tune a friend wrote so that they could listen to it on a loop to consider writing a morris dance to it. Their phone will only open it as a preview thing or in voice memo. There is no way to add it to Apple Music and therefore no way to play it in a loop. Why can’t it be opened in Music? This seems crazy! We’ve tried both MP3 and MP4a… neither gives it as an option and Music on the phone has no option to add tracks. Yes, it is saved in their...

Just a day to go before Red Cuthbert Day of Dance, part of the Bedford Fringe Festival - five morris sides will be starting at the Faces on Silver Street at 1030, with various spots throughout the town until we finish at Riverside Square, 1530-1600. We’ll all be doing turns in the Quarry Theatre Garden between 1200 and 1330, and after the last dance spot there will be a music session in The Hidden Barrel. If you’re local, do come and see us & our fellow dancers! Red Cuthbert will be joined...

Having reported a colour ring sighting for the first time last weekend, I wonder if anyone can tell me typical response/ acknowledgement times? I can easily imagine it being a week or so and appreciate it probably varies a lot between projects/ record keepers… #ColourRing #UKBirding #Birding

RE: https://mastodon.social/@racingreen17/116379586899858924 With this in mind I’ve just planted a berberis that will produce flowers for pollinators and berries for the birds, to supplement our native mix hedge that never seems to make much fruit, and have a couple of kinds of sunflower, flax and forget-me-nots as recommended by the RSPB to go in pots next to our infrequent-cut-please-get-wilder “lawn” (now ~40% borage, also good for bugs and bees) on the way from https://realseeds.co.uk/ - an...

Excellent day at WWT London Wetland Centre yesterday. Local moaned there “wasn’t much about” while I was thrilled by the variety showing well. So what if peewits were the only waders in evidence and while there were many other herons the bittern didn’t show? Familiarity breeds contempt I guess. Good views of sandmartins going in and out of their holes, a little egret stirring the water to fish, and photographing a kingfisher, were highlights. Being unable to get photos to upload from my computer...

Dear fundraiser If you’ve raised £22,000 towards your £8,000 goal, I don’t think you do need my help to get to that £8,000 goal as you say you do, as you passed it some time ago…

£100+ walking shoes I bought reduced to £80 a year ago for morris dancing in: falling apart and can’t be fixed. £80 full price ankle boots bought a decade ago for morris dancing in with traditionally constructed soles: just back from the cobblers with new heels and fresh rubbers, good to go for another decade. Next month I’m taking in my 20 year old fake-Corcoran paraboots for the same treatment.

Four-way temporary traffic lights on main road into town not working, with traffic already in conflict just after 7 before it starts to build. Called the highways out of hour number. Now, guess who they think is responsible for hunting down the contractor to rectify it and why? #Transport #TransportPlanning #LocalCouncil #LocalGovernment

About half an hour until we leave for the Insomaniacs Ball - because what better than an all-night session of Cotswold morris when you, um, barely dance/play any Cotswold? Fingers crossed it is going to be #Epic! #MorrisDance #MorrisDancing #CotswoldMorris #FolkLife

Good night at the Insomaniacs Ball - we didn’t stick it out to the bitter end as I’d hoped we would, but left some time around 1am, as not only were our dancers tiring (and busking nearly everything as there’s very little Cotswold we actually know!) but the numbers were thinning (probably 2/3 of the proper Cotswold dancers left before us) as a hard core settled into grind out the more obscure dances until dawn, and most of the musicians had left too so we were being asked to play things we didn’...

This recording from Blowzabella’s early days of the well known “Bear Dance” is listed as “Bear Dance No. 3” - so is it the/a third recording of it, or are there two other Bear Dances that didn’t become popular? RE: https://mas.to/@newz/116125140687236105 I think this article hugely underplays the extent to which the decline of sales of sane sized “mass market” or “a format” book sales is due to the publishers only offering “trade” sized paperbacks - we can’t buy what they don’t print in the first place!
