Excellent day at WWT London Wetland Centre yesterday. Local moaned there “wasn’t much about” while I was thrilled by the variety showing well. So what if peewits were the only waders in evidence and while there were many other herons the bittern didn’t show? Familiarity breeds contempt I guess.
Good views of sandmartins going in and out of their holes, a little egret stirring the water to fish, and photographing a kingfisher, were highlights.
Being unable to get photos to upload from my computer is annoying, so here’s a photo of my camera showing one of the photos of a kingfisher…

I also found a “random act of kindness” packet, balanced where it was likely to fall into the reserve and become a random act of littering, and relocated it to somewhere that couldn’t happen. A nice idea, I guess, but could’ve done with a moment more thought about where to put it.
