Most people haven't considered the consequences of having pets when it comes to the environment and climate. Just like people they consume large amounts of animal based proteins. Cat and dog food requires 214,000 tons of beef based meat products. The CO2 and methane produced just to have our cuddly furry friends is quite significant. @buermann@mastodon.social You haven't seen my prior posts from yesterday regarding the ineffectiveness of merely reducing the use of ruminants. Eating less won't change anything. Whole industries are dependent upon animal agriculture. The car tire industry alone requires that one cow be killed just to make 66 car tires. The leather industry uses 340 million cow hides each year to produce shoes and upholstery. Merely cutting back a few ounces of beef a week won't save a cow from...

The animal by-product industry is valued at over $24.5 billion. It's used in medicine, leather, animal feed, fertilizers, cosmetics, biofuels. People must stop saying that cutting meat consumption will curb climate change. Each of these paintings consist of many brushstrokes which collectively make up an image. I look at each brushstroke as a representation of the way an individual lives their life. How we live collectively is exhibited through our impact upon the planet. Changing our way of life, which is our individual brushstroke, to be more mindful of the climate, ecosystems, justice, and all that&#39;s around us can change the image from a Starry Night to a Great Wave.

This may appear to be unappealing to some but this vegan skillet of fried potatoes, tempeh, broccoli, spinach, onions and sliced tomatoes cooked on my induction cooktop is delicious.
