  I've been testing the new #Jolla phone for a couple of days now. At the same time I'm documenting the experience and I will publish it as an honest review on my blog. So far I should say that it is a very smooth experience. Native app availavility is an issue, but because we xan install Android apps, situation is not bad at all. I installed Signal, WhatsApp, #DeltaChat and they all work very smoothly. Well done @jolla@techhub.social #SailfishOS

  It seems @Codeberg@social.anoxinon.de unauthenticated access is down (e.g., I couldn't git pull my public repo of my Emacs config over https without authentication). I hope it is not yet another round of DDOS or botnets that is ruining Codeberg admins' weekend. #Codeberg is an important part of today's FLOSS and it is a shame that we have had so many attacks during this past year.   I have been observing the #SailfishOS and @jolla@techhub.social community for some weeks. It is "interesting" how they are treating newcomers [1,2]. There are way more examples, but well, character limits🤷 This is the textbook definition of gatekeeping. What they should do instead is to create a hashtag or something, so that new-comers tag themselves and gray-beards with zero tolerance can block that hashtag.   A question for all #Guix folks on fedi: is there a way to make building the derivations faster? The machine I use has 20 cores, and only one of them is used 100% and the rest are usually around 7-8%. There are many things that needs updating on my machine (including guix, pacman, flatpak, Emacs packages, ...) and by far Guix is the slowest despite having: ```sh guix upgrade --cores=$(nproc --ignore 1) ```

  According to the rector decision in my university, the university library will put all research articles under CC license and making it publicly available regardless of the journal! This is an amazing news that promotes better research practices imho. I'm super glad that my university is taking these measures towards open and accessible science.   To those who wonder if this #Iran war is unwelcome or welcome by Iranians: the solution is not putting efforts to stop or continue the war. The solution is to push for giving people the voice to express their opinion by giving them the internet back! Really that simple. Don't jump to conclusions **before** hearing all the facts.
