  Something neat I've noticed in Metroid Prime is that, because the Wavebuster chews through missiles like my cat chews through toilet paper, the room you have to go through to *get* the Wavebuster requires you to come in with a ton of missiles. It's making sure that you won't get the upgrade in the first place unless you have enough missiles for it to be somewhat useful. Also I keep my bathroom door closed. #MetroidPrime #Metroid #VideoGames and, uh, #cats I guess.

  You know what's even more helpful than posting a text post as a screenshot and then not including alt text? When the text in the screenshot is dark purple on a dark gray or black background. Why is this such a common color combination on Tumblr? Fortunately, Tumblr also has a culture of people coming along and adding image descriptions to other people's posts. #usability #accessibility #Tumblr

  I love how the Easter Vigil liturgy specifically calls out bees. In the short version, the Easter candle is referred to as "the work of bees and of your servants' hands," while the long version refers to the flames shared from the Easter candle by the congregation's candles as "fed by melting wax, drawn out by mother bees to build a torch so precious."   Thought better of wading into an argument, but already typed this: #Easter's English name may come from Eostre/Ēastre, though both Wiktionary and Etymonline hedge on that ("seemingly," "proposed," "thought to", "also possibly"). Even if true, it proves no more than Holy Thursday's link to Thor. In most languages, the name is based on the Latin Pascha (from Hebrew pésakh, Passover). The timing is deliberately...
