  There are a couple of movies that I saw in just the right moment of my life to like them more than their quality would justify this. Kind of fascinating. We know there is no objective way to rank movies, because a lot depends on the viewer, but it's not only person-dependent but also time.

  For reasons that are not important now, I have avoided Spider-Man movies for years. Decades even. I made an exception for 2012 and 2014 movies. And then there were MCU movies where he guest-starred. But generally, I was in the dark. This changed this week, because my daughter asked me to take her for the newest one to cinema, and I decided that I don't wanna go blindly. Hence, the thread.

  I read that the AI companies buy old books and scan them while destroying in the process. So, rare books are now disappearing irreversibly, because they will be accessible only through AI slop that was produced with them. This saddens me gravely. At the same time, I cannot do anything about it. Which further overwhelms me. (They destroy books because it's faster like that. There is no intent, but this doesn't change how I feel.   We went for sushi today, and one of the TVs in the restaurant played Japanese commercials; at first I thought it was a commercial break, but no, that was all that. One of the ads was for Snickers, of the "hungry, you're not yourself" slogan. An angry older woman was shouting at young people, so they gave her a Snickers, and she turned into a young, polite man. I don't think an ad like that would fly in the West in 2026; it would be ageism and sexism and what not...

  When I eat too much bread/flour, I get pissed off easily. In the recent weeks, it seemed that I was able to eat more and more, with no usual effects. But today, it hit me like a fucking juggernaut, and I'm cursing at the computer. :D So, a break from bread now.

  "Sliver" is an erotic thriller from 1993, starring Sharon Stone, William Baldwin, and Tom Berenger. As all the erotic thrillers from that time, it got old specifically.   "Demolition Man" is a SNES game from 1996, loosely based on the movie with the same title, starring Sylvester Stallone and Wesley Snipes (for some reason, I remembered it was Dennis Rodman; mayhap due to the hair colour, no clue).   To run it on Rocknix, I had to buy Pico-8, because they don't include it out-of-the-box. But, once I had it, I ran it on my computer, and it turned out to be way more funnier than I expected. I thought, well, okay, I can explore and play games through the website, right? Wrong! The fully integrated Splore makes the experience much more immerse.   I think a lot of "Mastodon is difficult" comes from the fact that the vast majority of people came to Twitter when it was running for years and had most of its issues ironed out. The same people would bounced of from earlier Twitter just the same.

  @stux@mstdn.social @ahltorp@mastodon.nu True, but Bluesky the company knew that, and Attie — the "AI feed composer" in question — is a separate app, to not piss off Blueskyans. Also, it's not really AI, apparently, but more of an algorithm, which led someone to a hypothesis that the whole ruse was to satisfy (mostly crypto) investors. I'm still rather observing it, so we'll see, but BS devs started vibe-coding Bluesky, so this can take a sudden turn any time now.
