I sure am glad that "git ass" isn't an actual command, because I would accidentally run it 15 times a day. #1 most popular typo with my fingies

"To recycle small metal pieces (under 2 inches), like metal lids, screws and nails, collect inside a soup can, crimp tightly closed, then put into mixed recycling." /me looks at huge tub of old screws, adds 20 soups to shopping list

Lots of talk around today about AI eroding mentorship in tech. After decades in the industry, I'm honestly impressed that someone figured out how to do less than "Hello new hire. Here's the code. GOOD F#@^ING LUCK WITH THAT! *disappears*"

Looking for a good icon that correctly expresses the concept of nudging someone, and, I gotta say, some of these make me feel a little uncomfortable in a way that makes me want to use them immediately. https://thenounproject.com/browse/icons/term/nudge/

Geeze. Art projects that involve using my hands really do tend to give me the extreme hyperfocus like nothing else these days. Last thing I remember thinking about 12 hours ago was "I'm just going to paint this thing for a few hours."

I always liked the word "vapid". It's a lot like "vacuous", but it sounds much faster.

If I could wave a wand or something and stop news stories about issues impacting more than one person from starting like "It was 8am one unremarkable morning in April, when Tommy Bleepblorp, fresh out of college and brimming with ambition, noticed on the way to his internship position that something was amiss." I think at one point, stuff like this must have made people pay extra attention. Now it just makes me think if I scroll down to the bottom of the page, I'll get...

My friends: If I ever start using the word "weird" as a put-down, it's time to lock me in a dumpster with a nice bottle of scotch, and roll that dumpster gently into the sea at low tide. I just want my wishes on record for this issue.

I sure wish someone would design a laptop that you could actually put on your lap without blocking the air vents. At this point they've had like 35 years, and are clearly 100% comfortable turning my lap into a zone of hot lies.

If you know anyone in the Portland (Oregon) area who needs an absolute unit of the luxury version of a beanbag, uh... couch, please hit me up. I badly need the space. Extended friends discount means if they mention Mastodon, I'll totally just give it away if they can come get it. https://portland.craigslist.org/mlt/fuo/d/portland-official-lovesac-supersac-with/7933706415.html

Hey: Can I get #fedihired maybe? Best fit with my 19 years of experience would be building and managing software teams, or writing code myself. I'm full-stack, but I have more fun with backend + database work. Preferences: * Org size <=200 people * 100% remote work (otherwise, PDX) * Org is not currently ditching DEI work * Org is engaged in doing something that will buy the Earth some extra runtime... * ...or at least trying very hard not to shorten it Boosts = <3 http...
