I have been looking into how (Australian) e-scripts work because I don't like that high-value medication prescriptions are managed in a messaging app on my phone alongside random texts. It seems like I can get some useful info from the script url, so making an app that you can put your scripts into and see their info is viable. Then you can keep them separate and list them all by name, how many repeats left etc. But I have no idea if there's a need for this kind of thing. Plus ph...

"The danger of this present moment lies in the fact that while the West’s narrative has collapsed, its capacity for violence remains. The American-Israeli axis, shorn of its moral pretensions, can still inflict enormous physical harm, yet this power no longer carries the weight of authority, since the world increasingly no longer sees its own future in the mirror of America’s present. There is no successor hegemon waiting to provide a fresh universalism, but a post-American future is be...

Absolutely love how common it is for bands to be on Bandcamp these days. I hear about a band, I look them up in Bandcamp, they're usually there. Maybe later I buy some of their music. Good stuff.

I've built myself a web-based tile editor for my game. I really didn't want to have to, but what I need is really a glorified 2D array editor so I'm not editing the grid array by hand, and all the other tile editors I found don't work like that. It should be invaluable when the map is much bigger. #gamedev #godot

There are lots of racists in Australia but my home town now has the dubious honour of electing the first One Nation MP to the lower house. A good excuse to go back there even less frequently. Sorry mum and dad

I have started many game ideas and given up pretty early on for all of them so far. The spirit is willing, the flesh is also willing, but the two of them can't agree on scope. I guess I should see it like each time I'm learning a bit more and making it a bit further... this time I've started making some tiles in blender, used godot's A* for pathfinding so you can click to move around, and have a basic day-night cycle going. Tile-based RPG idea has begun #godot #g...

It really bums me out that I keep seeing blog posts from technical people like "putting aside the obvious moral and ethical implications of LLMs, I'm interested in evaluating whether they can be useful for my work." Like "putting aside the obvious moral and ethical concerns of breaking into my neighbours' houses, I'm interested in evaluating whether this can be useful for acquiring other people's valuables."
