Here’s a thought Masto people: before you post your personal little gripe at someone who would otherwise be an ally, how about using a small amount of brain power and empathy to consider whether it achieves any end that you actually desire. Or is this just a bit of self indulgent wankery which actually just makes people think - what a total tosser? Just a thought eh…. Which hill do I actually want to die on? #rant

We have Old World Swallowtail caterpillars on our fennel again - I’ve been looking for them having seen them for the first time last year. We lost lots to the sparrows last time - and with a very chirpy and active juvenile robin in the garden this year I am now collecting the caterpillars and protecting them from predators. 8 so far and much family excitement. They have been named Colin Colinetta Colinette Colleen Colonial Colinata and Colineight This is going to be fun! #Gardening

Well I’m off to wild places, and mountains and moorland and I cannot wait! 4 days to see a friend who’s ailing in N Uist, an island I truly love. End of the world feeling because….well…it’s very end of the world! We will throw flies for wild trout, talk pish by the bucket load, sort out his poly-tunnel (yay!), agree on pretty much everything politically and drink whisky while carefully nursing the wounds of his dead-too-young partner a couple of years back. Lovely!

If you want to understand what went wrong with the UK Labour Gov this article doesn’t explain it but it does shine a very accurate light on the nightmare which Starmer is: https://www.councilestatemedia.uk/p/keir-starmer-the-pm-who-hated-you A really good piece of analysis

QQ Masto #gardening people: will my sweet peas come again if I cut them back and water them>? I've been away for 3 weeks and they are pretty crispy but some still flowering a but. Also it seems I didn't understand the gap between amount-of-stems-to-be-cut-every-day and amount-of-stems-friends-havecapacity-to-cut-every-day. By several orders of magnitude. So have started the mammoth job of cutting out the seed heads (which I'll keep for next year and share with all and sundry)...

I’ve got a #gardening dilemma: the cutest little ginger bumble bees are nesting in my compost heap. I started to dig it out this morning and realised there were a load of bees around. And then I clicked. I watched and sure enough - they were going in and out. But I need my compost and I need to use that space!!!! I have no idea what to do. Any suggestions???

@Irisfreundin @gardening @allotments @sflorg that list explains a bit about the relative success of certain plants in my #garden - where I seem to have a lot of mycorrhizal fungi…

Doing a little experiment today: I overwintered chilli plants in my greenhouse. Didn’t cut them back just put them on the floor under a table and let them go pretty dormant. With a little water a couple of wees back leaves are sprouting now so repotting and will see if this is a quick route to fresh chillis or if try r new seedlings are just as good. Absolutely no idea but I eat approx 2 chillis a day so this is a key test for me #gardening

I’ve got my very own conspiracy theory: here it is. If you search the #Epstein Files database (several people have created searchable versions - if anyone has a link to one to drop in the replies it would be good - I’ve lost the one I had) the word ‘Blair’ gets zero hits. That seems spectacularly impossible given his prominence and the at best, one-step-removed-from-Epstein circles he mixed in. So how/what/why?

Many things bring joy in the garden but first broccoli, potatoes and spring flowers are right up there #gardening
