Why are the cishets so fucking weird about bathrooms anyways? My gay self has had to listen to plenty of hot women shitting, and they're still hot and I still don't have any desire to assault them.

Maybe I should do the tech CEO wardrobe: 14 copies of the same outfit, and wash clothes every 2 weeks.

Question only for those who love cats: How much money would it take for you to never pet a cat again for the rest of your life?

I aspire one day to have as many human rights as a corporation.

It's probably past time I buy an air filter for my home in prep for the next time we get smoke in my part of the country. Is there a particular type I should look for, or just whatever is on sale at the hardware store? (Yes I know about the box fan things, I'm looking for more of an everyday use thing I can just turn up to high when I need to)

It's one of those weeks where I restart yet another Stardew Valley playthrough...

Not that I have any intention of going back to my hometown ever again, but I do find myself a bit curious just how many of my high school class have come out as queer ever since. At the time, there was exactly zero openly gay students. But out of a few hundred people, odds are good that a dozen or so are. I wonder who they are.

I wish I could come up with a good way to make it so any money above a threshold automatically got invested into something that would take at least a few hours, or up to a day to cash out. I'm trying to think of how even if an attacker popped my whole password vault that they couldn't steal more than a month's worth of expenses. But all the things I can think of would require manually moving money around every paycheck, and I'm just not going to remember to do that. Yes, I have...

Immigration arrests, detentions, deportations, both "criminal" and "non criminal", they're all back up to nearly as high as they were during the January surge. But we don't hear about them anymore. It's just become the normal background noise that 60k of our neighbors are ripped from their homes, locked in cages for weeks or months or years, and shipped out to some country which may or may not be a country they've ever lived in before or even know the language...

@CordiallyChloe@tech.lgbt @alice@lgbtqia.space And that's not even getting into the Real designer clothing stores where they practically do a credit check before they let you in the door.

Okay, this quarter I'm going to get my shit together and be more organized! Jess, the third quarter began in July... Ahh, so it did. Well better luck in November. ... Q4 begins in October.

An old "joke": Person walks into the office of a Hiring Manager reviewing a big stack of job applications. The manager splits the stack in half and drops one half in the trash can. "What are you doing? Why did you just throw away half the applications?" "I don't want any unlucky people working at this company."

I really hate the ADHD thing where you've gotta pickle over a hard problem for days or weeks, sometimes even months without feeling like you're making much progress until something brilliant comes spewing out of your fingers. I know given enough time and experimenting I'll figure the damn thing out, but there's so little to show in the meantime.

One of the hardest things in infosec isn't the finding of the vulnerabilities, but tracking down someone who will actually take ownership to fix them.

I've been stumped on this damn project for like a month now, and really don't know how to move forward on it... It's another of these "every solution is going to be incomplete" things.

I know that there are lots and lots of Christians out there who are kind, loving, and accepting people. But even still, when I see crosses or Bible verses or other Christian paraphernalia, that raises my suspicion level at least 4 points (out of 10) automatically.

A frustrating thing about avoiding AI is that Search has become impossibly useless with AI slop too. So you've basically ended up with - do you ask the slop machine yourself, or do you reference someone else's slop machine output.

Just thinking again about how someone who makes a million dollars a year would still take 1000 years to be a billionaire. Someone who makes a BILLION dollars per year would still take 1000 years to be as rich as Elon Musk.

What even is the point? Do they really think "I believe you're going to hell" is a convincing argument to make me deny who I love? I suppose it's just a way to spread hate and try to convince people to closet. https://infosec.exchange/@JessTheUnstill/116998102385776875
