RE: https://mastodon.social/@jagsworkshop/116461068034517578 Hawaiʻi Senate Bill 2471 “would emphasize that corporations are ‘artificial persons’ and “make clear that the powers of corporations do not include spending money or contributing ‘anything of value’ to influence elections or ballot measures.” A novel approach to constrain corporate “personhood.”

RE: https://mastodon.social/@jagsworkshop/116462060927779209 All of this upheaval because Mark Zuckerberg chases technological fantasies with the attention span of a gerbil. I have every confidence that he’ll be as successful with his AI machinations as he was with virtual reality.

RE: https://mastodon.social/@jagsworkshop/116462060927779209 Oh and Zuck will surveil remaining employees to train AI, presumably so he can eventually lay them off, too. The top internal comment: “This makes me super uncomfortable. How do we opt out?” “I never thought leopards would surveil me,” sobs woman working for the Leopards Surveilling People Company.

I’ll admit there’s a small part of me that hopes it blows up, mainly because I feel Anthropic is getting away with massive piracy for a pittance. You can be completely in the tank for AI and still want to see Anthropic (and OpenAI and Meta and …) fairly compensate the creators on whose works these AIs are trained. https://jagsworkshop.com/2025/10/national-writers-union-anthropic-settlement/

I hope she wins millions and bankrupts his ass. “I want to hold this person accountable for what they did to me,” Jo Ellis, a pilot who has served more than 15 years in the Virginia Army National Guard, said in a statement to NBC News. “It’s become too common that people can say horrible things about someone, profit at their expense, and get away with it.” https://www.nbcnews.com/nbc-out/out-news/trans-pilot-falsely-blamed-potomac-plane-crash-sues-conservative-influ-rcna200474

RE: https://mastodon.social/@jagsworkshop/116004507381158378 Claudette Colvin is not a name most people know. She refused to give up her bus seat to a white woman, inspired by what she learned in her segregated school during “Negro history month.” She declared to the police who dragged her from the bus, “It’s my constitutional right to sit here as much as that lady.” She died two weeks ago.
