So. To try to use controversy and #bikelash to distract from the Centurion data breach and UCP electoral boundary gerrymandering scandals, the UCP are rolling out anti-bicycle legislation on Monday. Insiders say it will use the #Notwithstanding Clause to circumvent the supreme court ruling that prevented Ford from ripping out bike lanes in Ontario. Talk about low-bar callous disregard for safety: literally throwing people (kids!) in front of buses (& trucks). All to distract us from UC...

What is my PM thinking?? A gas tax holiday? Stupid plan! If @mark-carney.bsky.social had announced the excise tax $ was going to be temporarily diverted to #municipalities to allow commuters to bus for free, for eg, that would have been a message that showed commitment to affordability for those suffering + #value for the environment / recognition climate change is real.

It's a no-brainer that the new 🇨🇦 #NDP leadership team will be working closely with Canada's unions -as always & as it should be: workers are the heart of any community, & social democracy movement too. But any speculation that not electing Ashton as leader is a sign of being soft on unions= untrue! While I 🧡'd #RobAshton for reinjecting "class war" into our lexicon, he clearly didn't have requisite skills (0 French; using AI in hi...

@avilewis To Avi, Ilana and Jenny Lewis, Michelle Landsberg, all your kith and kin; Sincere, deep condolences on the passing of your father, the great orator, leader, diplomat and statesman Stephen Lewis. His memory will always be a blessing to Canadians and the world. For me personally, it begins with him giving the address at my undergraduate graduation at McMaster U. I'd never felt so inspired to do good. Then I would listen to him debate Conservative pundit Dalton Camp and a liberal...

Here to say Hey.Café, the new, #Canadian social network that is privacy focused, ad free, and a safe space to share, is pretty good! The team of volunteers who have built it are based in BC. They are incredibly responsive to new members requests for support and have instituted a ton of updates. They are also planning to federate and join the fediverse! It's web-based, already has an app for iPhone, and an Android app is rolling out in the next week or so. If you join please say &qu...

@pluralistic@mamot.fr I don't think it would be illegal to build it. Won't it be illegal to use it?
