  @daringfireball Born and raised in America, I too have a near religious belief in the ideals of democracy. However, this election result has made me consider whether democracy is by design less long-lived than monarchy and autocracies. Rule by fiat/power can indefinitely survive by doubling down on what they are. Most of the longest-lived cultures were run by monarchy/familal right or brute force. By contrast, democracy can be defeated by the very traits that define it—the openness to change...

  @frankly @daringfireball @gruber I’m with you. I’ve loved this season. Ever since mtv, people have become more and more impatient with pacing of tv/film. Everything has to happen NOW NOW NOW. we’ve forgotten how to just enjoy the journey in our rush to get to the ending.

  @atpfm I transferred my iPhone 15 pro to my new 17 pro using home WiFi (not hotel). It took less than one hour to get a usable new phone, including cell service transfer and Apple Watch transfer. The remainder of the apps took another 30 minutes to download. The whole experience was completely smooth and fast. I don’t understand the extensive discussions about transfer procedures.

  @atpfm re: AirPods Pro 3 fit being different from previous generations. With previous APP, I had always used the smaller ear tip on the right side as it seemed to fit better that way. I started off using the size “S” ear tip on the right again with the APP3, but it never felt right. No pain, but it never seemed securely in place. Switching to size “XS” only made it worse. I decided to go back to regular size for both ear tips, and that actually ended up working best.
