Thought for the day... I am so glad I'm near the end of my career in GIS, and not at the beginning.

@AtanasE @defuneste There is one human-based defense that will win every time. Unplug the damn computer.

@AtanasE Ooh, I forgot about test restore. I had a colleague get caught by that one. Used a built-in MS back up program, and kept using it for years after they stopped supporting it.

During last week's class at Marist, I demonstrated how to download a file by entering a FTP URL into Windows File Explorer. They were aghast. As if I was showing them how to start a car with a hand crank. Standing up in the middle of the classroom taking photos of the screen with their phones, presumably to show their friends or post on social media with taglines like"This is how old my ancient GIS professor is".

@AtanasE Yeah, I'm not even that old. ๐Ÿ™‚

Is Bluesky down, or being over-run by AI requests? I can't get into my feed over there.

Last night's find at Dad's house was a chrome plated bronze by E. Famin. A French sculptor active around 1910โ€“1925, known for creating high-quality, artistic bronze automobile mascots/hood ornaments. Question for my ornithologically educated followers: What kind of bird is this?

Got to hang out with some fellow Clean Energy/Climate Advocates for three days this week. The Graduating class of the 80th LULA Training Program.

@adamsteer "Something else" is often the best decision. Believe me, I know from experience.

My last night teaching at Marist was yesterday. I'll miss it, but it will be nice having most Monday nights free from now on. I had a lot of great students. And I've already seen quite a few of them go on to do great things. I started in 2016 at Donnelly Hall (AKA, the round building). Finished this year at the Cassavino Library, room 303. One of my favorite aspects of the Marist campus is the many "Hogwarts" style buildings they've preserved.

Getting an Experience Builder app designed the way you want, and to work properly is... an experience. I guess esri named it appropriately. "Are you, experienced?" ~ Jimi Hendrix https://arcg.is/1rXzvn2

    Good question.
