  It’s taken probably half a day of research and testing, but I finally have a workable UI for #FFXIV on #nintendoswitch2. Now I just need a crap ton of practice. Huge thanks to everyone who game me amazing advice!

  So, I got #FFXIV on the Switch 2. I couldn’t use the free trial against my existing account, so I ended up getting the heavily discounted bundle. I now realise two things: - I have completely forgotten how to play bard after quitting Dawntrail at 95. - I have no idea how to play with a controller If anyone has any guides or blogs on this, I’d love to see them! At least Gpose still works ;)

  Also, the memory card I bought for my Switch 1 won’t work for the Switch 2. (micro SD vs Micro SD EX. It’s like a Pokemon Powerup.) So I’ve had to order a new one of those too. FML.

  So, Apple hiked the price of the Apple TV 4K. The 128GB model went from £169 to an eye watering £249! (the more expensive model also has Thread for home automation and Ethernet for more reliable streaming) That felt excessive. So I looked for retailers still using the old RRP. Most are sold out. So then, to EBay. A highly rated seller is selling excess stock from a TV venture. £130. And EBay give me 30% off too! Arrived today. Brand new. Win.

  I need a new TV stand/unit thing. Our existing IKEA laminated chipboard monstrosity was built for an era of bluray players and slimline consoles, with drawers underneath for storage. I now want to use it to hold all our living room electronics, including a chunky wifi router and an even bigger Xbox Series X. The snag is, there are no easy options. Everything has alcoves that are too narrow, or drawer space where I need cupboards. It’s infuriating.

  Destiny 2 is ending, with the final content patch being pushed out on June 9th. Out of my 40+ years playing video games, this title is my biggest purchasing regret. I wish I had never been suckered into getting it at launch, or then persuading my wife to play alongside me. Since it went live, I’ve seen inept decision after inept decision, with the content vault saga being the final nail in the coffin.   I ran some more mythic groups last night in #WorldOfWarcraft, mostly through LFG. Found some teams looking to do Nexus Point and Magister’s Terrace, enough to get me up to 1500 rating and snag a whole bunch of achievements! That said, these weren’t clean runs. I need to get stronger with the tactics for each instance so I can clear them flawlessly. All told though, I think I’m going to start looking at doing +4 to +8 keystones while I train to stat earning better quality gear.

  Spent an easy and gentle evening in #Warcraft doing a bit of rep grinding and profession skilling. Not anything vital, but still felt worth doing.

  Over the long weekend, I’ve been reflecting on hobbies. Without making any conscious choice, I’ve given up on two things: - Pokemon and Magic the Gathering trading card games. The huge amount of over-consumption and drive for artificial scarcity means that I’ve given up even trying to play. - Warhammer: I don’t have the time to build and paint as much as I’d like, and I don’t want to add to my pile of potential. I’ll get to it sometime, but it’s on hold for now. At least my wallet is happy.

  Morning all! Getting ready for the UK Games Expo ( #UKGE ) this coming weekend - a three day event covering miniatures, tabletop, board and card games. Probably going to get some dice, but I might also pick up some Protoss minis from the StarCraft miniatures game that’s just come out. Anyone else heading there this year?
