The best thing God could have done after creating everything is to have just fucked on out. Religion causes way more problems than it ever solved and I don't think it's solved anything.

Why is it on every hiking trail when it specifically states "No Dogs" someone always brings their dog?

It's really weird and kind of unsettling to watch in real time a person you work with blow up in popularity on social media. Because that person on TikTok is not who I work with. And on the off chance you may guess or suspect who this person is, please don't say anything.

@ChristosArgyrop is there anything that COVID hasn't affected? We really did not, and still don't, take it seriously enough.

@thorncoyle ah, but if we spent money on social services then there would be less money available to militarize police. And something something socialism. Bootstraps and all that.

@flexghost Completely dehumanizing people, attempting to erase their existence. Just great.

@VedaDalsette nothing they do makes sense. They want every baby born even at the risk of the mother's life, but then do nothing to support that growing baby. No time off for parents. No subsidized child care or early education. As they grow to school age, no school lunches. No books in the classroom or library. If the child is in any way "different" there's something wrong with them. They must know nothing about sex or their body, but if a girl is raped and pre...

@VedaDalsette I suppose money and power warps the brain so that all that matters is gaining more money and more power and that seems like such an empty way to live.

It's 4:30 in the afternoon and I just put fresh sheets in the bed. Is it too early to go to bed?

@Likewise @bookstodon Thornhedge by T. Kingfisher. A novella really. A different take on Sleeping Beauty. And one of my most favorite authors. And almost finished with another novella, The Salt Grows Heavy by Cassandra Khaw. Her writing is florid and poetical and not for everyone, but I enjoy it.

@Subumbral @KitMuse @bookstodon I am still traumatized by that book. One of the most horrifying books I've read (because I don't read horror!).

So because our supervisor has fragile mental health, the rest of us have to suppress and ignore our feelings and our mental health in order to protect his. Who is this helping exactly? I'm so fucking over it.

You know what I love about Walmart? One of the richest families on the planet who pay their employees sub-living wages so that many of them need assistance, and then Walmart goes and removes almost all the checkout clerks, converting check stands to self checkout so that everyone who shops there also has the privilege of working there for free. Brilliant.

A person who works in a different branch and with whom I am barely nominally acquainted with has decided that I am a troublemaker so I'm just going to lean into that. And completely ignore their existence.

@Sheril Not everyone who works in a library is a librarian, and they do a lot of work making the library run as well as it does for little recognition. Including helping people find books and other materials.

"In a document released Monday, Pope Francis addressed surrogacy, saying it “violates” both the dignity of the child and the woman, who “becomes a mere means subservient to the arbitrary gain or desire of others.”" So does forcing a pregnant person to carry to term an unwanted child or to continue a non-viable pregnancy also violate the dignity of the woman and fetus? Doesn't forcing someone to give birth make the subservient to the desires of others?
