I'm in the ER, waiting for CT results. It seems likely I have a(?) kidney stone(s?) They gave me Toradol, which dropped the pain from an 8 or 9 (my 10 is a gallbladder attack) down to a 1 or 2. If it's a kidney stone, the size will determine whether or not I get to go home & pound water, or get admitted.

@arrrg My understanding is they're now a specialty item, so there's no economy of scale.

@forestfern IANAG. Things I remember from conversations with friends who are: Deer won't jump a fence they can't see over or through. And they don't like predator urine. Have dogs visit, or use urine from an omnivorous human. I don't know if house cats' urine smells enough like lynx & cougar to deter deer.

@sundogplanets Do they not mind snow? Also, a "chaos" is my new collective noun for goats. "Herd?" Pffft.

@rspeicher @mcnado This. Bonus: when they have a security breach, you don't have to worry about your credit card number being stolen, since it's unique to the vendor.

I'm taking a week-long electronics break; I spent 8 hours in the bathroom yesterday chasing dopamine hits from a logic puzzle game. See folks on the flip side. #MentalHealth

In August, 2025, Google announced they're locking down Android in September, 2026. A friend told me about it in November, but I wasn't able to find anything to confirm it until recently. I'm guessing this is old news to devs, but maybe not to other consumers. If you're a consumer who chose Android because it was an open system, and want that to continue, these folks describe ways you can help. ETA: They describe ways devs can help, too. https://keepandroidopen...
