  It has been 0 days since I have messaged a male colleague via side channel to ask them to repeat something I said in a meeting 15 minutes earlier because it got ignored when I said it, and it ended up resolving the purpose of the meeting when he repeated it. This scenario has happened several times since transitioning. At least they see me as a woman? The bar is on the floor and somehow they slide under it.

  Mistakes were made, but we’re mostly back online. Replaced the semi-fried gen2 dish with a refurbed 4x. Tried to re-use the cable that I buried in 120 ft of conduit 3 years ago, but it had a proprietary connector. It is just a shielded ethernet cable, but I think they used 23AWG wire or maybe even thicker, and my cat6 ends only go up to 24AWG. So I made an emergency run into Cape to get a new 150ft ethernet cable which is currently strung out across the yard. I’ll order new cat6 ends tonight...

  I got out before the heat this morning and put a new connector on the buried gen2 starlink cable so it would work with the new dish, and was then able to clean up the temporary cat6 cable I had laid across the yard. What took me 2 minutes inside sitting at my workbench took 45 minutes standing on top of a ladder in the yard, because I just could not get the cables straight enough to go through the connector in the right order.   Outfit of the day for Trans Day of Visibility. I don’t hide my history online because my accounts have 20-30 years of history. But in person I just sort of blend into the background now.   I have never heard of Ethel Cain before her tdov instagram post, but my takeaway is this: Damn I wish I could sound like that when I sing. I was singing bass in the choir at 14 though, so I don’t think there’s any amount of voice training in the world that could get me into her range.

I had switched my phone to UK region to test a date formatting bug and the Watch picked that up, but it did not follow the phone back to US region setting a few minutes later. I fixed it by setting my phone back to UK again, and then back to US and the watch followed this time.

  My biggest problem with the concept of LLMs, even if they weren’t a giant plagiarism laundering machine and disaster for the environment, is that they introduce so much unpredictability into computing. I became a professional computer toucher because they do exactly what you tell them to. Not always what you wanted, but exactly what you asked for. LLMs turn that upside down.
