You can still talk to exchange students who attend Kim Il Sung university and other visitors to the DPRK. There are also those from the DPRK who work abroad, such as those in China, as well as those who live in New York for UN purposes.

There’s tons of emulation handhelds produced in the PRC. The android-based ones tend to have nicer ARM chips and decent screans, and Valve is working on ARM support for SteamOS. This gets you a less powerful but more efficient SteamOS handheld, which allows you to play tons of pirated games or emulated games.

Good questions! I’ll try to give a brief overview, and then link some resources I think are good. Regarding Taiwan, it’s important to understand what constitutes imperialism. Imperialism is a form of international extraction, driven by export of capital. It’s a form of financial domination and super-exploitation of foreign countries. The desire for reunification is not imperialist on China’s part, but driven by a desire for full and complete restoration of sovereignty, which was broken by colo...

I’ll start off with a brief explanation of Marxism-Leninism, socialism, and communism. Marxism is an ideological framework centering the Marxist Law of Value (derived from earlier labor theories of value), the philosophy of dialectical materialism, and the application of each to analysis of history and society in the form of scientific socialism. Lenin carried Marx’s critique to the era of imperialism, where bank and industrial capital merged to form monopoly capitalism that exploits the world...

Your strategy of pretending communists merely think west=lies and not west=truth, and of pretending communists believe China has no flaws, is unfortunately a common mischaracterization of communist analysis of China. The truth is that communists have a materialist analysis of China, one that focuses on the class chacter of Chinese society as a socialist state, and that common western allegations against China are simply wrong. Nobody thinks China has literally 0 flaws, just that the average west...

The Democrats are the more competent managers of empire, so they are the accelerationist pick. The accelerationist position wants the most competent imperialists in power to accelerate capital concentration, and therefore speed up the contradictions of capital.

Both Uyghurs and Tibetans have minority protections and better representation in the NPC than Han Chinese, to the point that chuds in China complain about them being more privledged by the state than Han.

Russia is self-interested in opposing the imperialist system dominated by the US. It isn’t ideologically aligned with socialism, but it is practically aligned with socialists in overthrowing imperialism. The Russian bourgeoisie is nationalist, not imperialist, as there simply isn’t space for Russia to colonize as the west has the entire imperialized world under its thumb.

I’m not really sure what you’re saying, then. You made a point about people living in fear, this just generally isn’t true.

The west admitted to helping the Banderites overthrow the democratically elected president of Ukraine, and said Banderites started ethnically repressing Russians living in Eastern Ukraine. As for NATO, NATO is an inter-imperialist anti-revolutionary coalition force. It’s “defensive” like the IDF is. The soviets weren’t a threat to Western Europe, and neither is the Russian Federation, yet the imperialists in Europe and the US needed to contain socialism to prevent it from spreading.

It was the west that backed a Banderite coup in 2014, sparking the Ukrainian Civil War. NATO has been encircling Russia for the greater part of a century at this point.

China has prisons, what’s your point? They don’t have slave labor nor prison labor. The overwhelming majority of Chinese citizens support their socialist system thanks to the pro-social policies implemented and the real, material gains. Hitler was not economically efficient, he helped Nazi Germany colonize the surrounding regions, and committed the genocide of 10s of millions of people. Socialism is good because it works, and works for the working classes. Nazism only benefited the ruling capita...

I’m aware that they played a critical and heavy role in colonialism, and am not trying to downplay that in any way. I appreciate the added context, but I don’t believe we are opposed in any way here.
-
Post #2720845
Yes, I by no means meant to downplay that. Just to highlight that even though they were not as heavily involved, neocolonialism and imperialism are still the driving force behind their safety nets, so anyone trying to point to them not being as heavily involved in old colonialism as a way to dismiss their modern neocolonialism and imperialism can be safely countered. And to clarify my earlier point, colonialism proper is still around, just not as much as it was at the peak.

Try looking at it from our side. Day in, day out we get bombarded with disinformation (intentionally or not), and have had these same arguments day in, day out. I don’t think it’s particularly surprising when some communists become jaded and snappy over time, even if I think it’s counter-productive. The point on Sankara is apt, Sankara was just as good a person as many other demonized socialist leaders, but was not as heavily targeted due to Burkina Faso’s socialist project getting strangled in...

No, I’m referring to the invasion by countries like France, the US, UK, Germany, etc. With the overthrow of the Tsar, the soviets frees the Russian Empire’s colonies. You are speaking of conspiracy theories and blaming modern peoples for the practices of an Empire over a century dead, and doing so along ethnic lines.

Regarding Russia, it’s certianly no Paradise, and it’s fallen dramatically from its proud Soviet roots. It’s a modern tragedy. However, the US Empire is the global hegemon, the premier imperialist power, while Russia is a strong friend to Cuba, China, Iran, Venezuela, and many other anti-imperialist countries like Burkina Faso. It’s playing a progressive role, despite being dominated by capitalism in the current era. The USSR had steady and consistent economic growth, and provided free, high q...

I’m sorry to hear that. I agree, capitalism’s destructive contradictions force untold horrors upon the world. Do you have an org you work with? Volunteering at a party can really help give optimism and purpose. A better world is possible, and it’s being built in socialist countries already. I feel like you’re letting your pessimism turn towards other countries that frankly aren’t as bad as the west is, and are in many ways progressing humanity forward. It’s our job to make sure that happens, and...

The first part is unquestionably true, revolution is the exertion of the authority of one class upon the rest. The latter parts are entirely wrong, or misguided. Socialist countries put the working classes in charge. The goals are not lost, it’s that the goal of a working class state is the same as the general class goal of the working classes, the collectivization of production and distribution. This goal is not lost whatsoever, but it does require protecting against opportunists, as well as...

The CIA, in an internal memo never meant to be released, made it clear that Stalin was not a dictator and that leadership was collective. The USSR brought dramatic democratization to society. First-hand accounts from Statesian journalist Anna Louise Strong in her book This Soviet World describe soviet elections and factory councils in action. Statesian Pat Sloan even wrote Soviet Democracy to describe in detail the system the soviets had built for curious Statesians to read about.

Sankara is just as “tankie” as Stalin, Castro, Mao, etc. The difference is that he was killed before Burkina Faso really had a chance to develop socialism, and as such his name hasn’t been dragged through the mud. Regarding Stalin, there are several books I can cite, but I’ll pick just one. Stalin: The History and Critique of a Black Legend by Domenico Losurdo.
