Remember in the late 2010s when some lone voices were calling for tech workers to get serious and unionize? And no one cared because they thought the 6-figure salaries and flex time would continue forever? Things didn't have to get this bad.

Well, I was not expecting a Tom Waits / Massive Attack collaboration

OK, the read aloud feature in Zotero 9 is WILD. The voices are amazing. I’m on an M3 Pro—can anyone with older hardware comment on voice qualiry? #zotero

I have been struggling under the 3 of Swords since January. Is that particular present over now? I think it might be.

Coming back to violin after a month away has been hard. I had a good return lesson on Monday but I’m still feeling really out of practice. I’m also recovering from a wrist injury, making my left hand work tricky unless I really pay attention to form. Sounds like the perfect time to be inspired to record a violin part for this week's Disquiet Junto, right?

Why am I so grumpy about AI? I’m legitimately upset that the technology I dreamed about all my life turned out to be so shitty.

My friend K and I had rehearsal for our Drone Day live performance tonight! We have a 35 minute improv set that is coming along very nicely. I’ll post details as it gets closer but the plan is to live stream on twitch on Saturday the 30th at 7 US CT. #DroneDay #DroneDay2026

Happy to share that the full Sudre's Violin catalog is now available on the just announced, artist-owned co-op Subvert! Sudre's Violin is a (mostly) instrumental, postpunk/experiential music project that I put a lot into over 4 years. I hope you enjoy it. https://www.subvert.fm/sudres-violin #subvertfm #indiemusic #postpunk

I have been without a studio for 19 days, this is not fun

Disquiet 0736 asked us to create a piece of music inspired by the "insistent, swift, and often jumpy pace" of social media. That's not the experience of Mastodon, though. My alternative response to the prompt is an homage to one of my favorite daily art accounts, Reports from Unknown Places (@clever_reports). Please enjoy in stereo. #disquietjunto #disquiet0736 #musodon https://soundcloud.com/coralineada/reports-from-unknown-places

This week's Disquiet Junto submission is all about ringing bells and buzzing wires. A drone featuring bells, chimes, vintage radio sound effects, and electric guitar with ebow. https://soundcloud.com/coralineada/cult-of-the-orchid #disquietjunto #disquiet0741 #musodon #drone

RE: https://fosstodon.org/@ethicalsource/116281522659176092 This is a great example of why we don't accept machine translations of Contributor Covenant, by the way. Words matter. #opensource #ai #EthicalSource

From a conversation today with @hakamadare : if AI coding agents are so advanced, why have them write in high-level programming languages at all? Shouldn't they be outputting byte code?

An experiment in polychords as suggested by this week’s Disquiet Junto prompt. Features Argon 8M synth and live bass. https://soundcloud.com/coralineada/faded-by-sun-disquiet0740

This week's Disquiet Junto prompt was an invitation to work with sympathetic vibrations. No, not the New Age kind. I reached for an acoustic guitar and recorded this. As you listen: every sound you here is from the vibrations of a single instrument. Best enjoyed with headphones. https://soundcloud.com/coralineada/barbed-wire-telephones #disquietjunto #disquiet0739 #music

My first peer-reviewed paper! "Queer(ing) Epistemology through Intersectional Data Science: Relational Knowledge and Affective Queries with TMI-WEB", co-authored with Dr Jess Parris Westbrook, was accepted by the Design Research Society! The paper will be published in open access format later this year, and is being presented at the DRS conference in Edinburgh in June. Today I woke up to my partner playing one of my Sudre's Violin tracks from 2023. It reminded me that I haven't gone back to listen to last year's farewell release, Figure 6. I like it! Bandcamp Friday is today, and the album is only $6. Give it a listen? https://coralineada.bandcamp.com/album/figure-6 #music #instrumental #musodon #BandcampFriday

@ivory Do you take bug reports by toot? Using the up-arrow to navigate to the top of the Notifications tab with unread notifications makes the "pull down to refresh" pane take over a big chunk of the window, even though there's no refresh triggered or happening.

My book listed on oreilly.com? Me 20 years ago would never have believed it.

Wow, there's a new And Also the Trees album?

I got the nicest comment on one of my tracks today! "These are fascinating sounds. Like some newly constructed instruments playing together in a cavern. Menacing and soothing at the same time. Wonderful track, I had to listen several times…” Play counts and likes and so on mean nothing next to a personal message from someone who listened to your stuff and liked it. I'll be floating on this all day. #music #musodon

Is anyone working on an open data standard/protocol for moving context and history between AI platforms? Is this a path to more data autonomy? This could be something for FOSS institutions to get behind as a practical contribution to the field. We don't need better definitions, we need that freedom you've been talking about all these years. #ai #opensource #ethicalsource

The OSI was so busy trying to define what open source AI means that they totally missed the existential threat that LLMs and agents pose to open source itself.

Call me old-fashioned, but "I rented a robot that wrote some code" doesn't seem like participating in FOSS in good faith.
