@weaving@fedigroups.social @fiberarts@fedigroups.social Fresh off the loom: doublewidth throws in integrated plain weave. Still have to fringe, wet finish and brush. Since they are so big, I think I will step on them in the tub to full them. This is a destash project—which, of course, means I had to buy more yarn to actually do it. 😂 Those stripes are gifted yarns I have had for a couple of decades! @weaving @fiberarts #weaving #FiberArts I finished the echo scarves. I quite like them and I am eager to keep trying some more echo technique. Specs: The original draft is from Ingrid Boesel. It is available on handweaving.net #75797. I echo-ized it with 4 colors, red, yellow, emerald and cobalt. (8/2 cotton and 5/2 cotton.) The wefts are wine and yale blue, both 10/2 cotton. 8 shafts, 8 treadles

30 inches wide makes it a little slow going because it’s a bit awkward reaching that far. I’m using the big shuttle so I don’t have to wind bobbins so frequently. These will be bath towels to match the hand towels I made a few months ago. #Weaving #WIP #FiberArts #craft @weaving @fiberarts

Recently completed scarf. All cotton. Draft is one of Ingrid Boesel’s Thrilling Twills. 11 shafts, 11 treadles. I still haven’t used all 12 shafts and 18 treadles on my loom. #weaving @weaving @fiberarts #craft

I still have the turned taqueté towels on the loom, but I am figuring out the math on the next project. I was given multiple colors of the mystery thick wool yarn on the left years ago but didn’t really know what to do with it. I’m going to use it with Harrisville Shetland (on the right) in an integrated plain weave structure to show it off. 1/ #weaving @weaving #yarn #FiberArts @fiberarts

Since I am on a rant about invasive plants, let me share this cool little graphic about garlic mustard that the friends of the local park just sent out. Not mentioned here is that another way this little fucker is so insidious is that it disrupts the mycorrhiza that many native plants need to grow. As things start blooming in the US at the start of spring, please consider not promoting invasive species by showing off your arty photos of them. Here is one I have seen a bit of, callery pear sometimes known as Bradford pear. It is highly invasive in much of the eastern part of the US. It takes over habitat once populated with native trees, shrubs and other plants, which supported a wide variety of native insects and animals. 1/2 #InvasiveSpecies #InvasivePlants #Pollinators #NativePlants
