<p>Bastille is an open-source framework for automating deployment and management of containerized (jailed) applications on FreeBSD.</p><p>Refuge for the iocage diaspora with import compatibility.</p><p>We are also the home of Rocinante, the BSD workhorse. Rocinante lets you automate configuration management of the host system using Bastillefile templates.</p><p>Also in development: our take on a modern FreeBSD distribution with our tools pre-installed and an optional KDE Desktop.</p>

The Bastille website has finally been refreshed! After far too long and far too few updates, the entire website has been redesigned. https://bastillebsd.org Take a look. Let us know what you think. #BastilleBSD #FreeBSD

I converted another host to pkgbase with `pkgbasify`. Worked great! Even updated the jail base: ./pkgbasify --rootdir /usr/local/bastille/releases/15.1-RELEASE Bastille even detects that the jail base has been updated, and the next `bastille update 15.1-RELEASE` automatically uses pkg. #FreeBSD #BastilleBSD #pkgbase

What&amp;#39;s one bit of retro tech you&amp;#39;d like to see brought back to life? #ThrowbackThursday #retrocomputing

The recent trends in AI and anti-AI sentiment remind me of Battlestar Galactica. Due to the advanced capabilities of the Cylons (AI), the Galactica&#39;s response was to go full retro tech. Cylons can&#39;t infiltrate air-gapped ships and air-gapped computers. Sure, their ship was &quot;legacy&quot; by the time the conflict started but the &quot;legacy&quot; aspect is what saved everyone. Makes me wonder what the future of tech has in store for us, and how many might go full retro tech in re...

After spending the past few weeks up to my eyeballs in old BBS code I&#39;m reminded how magical the small internet was. The dial up days. Calling yourself a SYSOP. I don&#39;t miss the dial-up download speeds, but I do miss the small internet. #BBS #retrocomputing

Do we have any FreeBSD / Bastille fans in the Bay Area? I recently relocated to the Bay and curious if we’ve got any community out here. #FreeBSD #bastilleBSD #BayArea

Did a little bit of experimentation today and was reminded that jail names are case-sensitive. TEST, test, TeST, tEst, etc can all be unique jails on a system. Naming jails like this will inevitably lead to confusion, but it works. The more you know. ™️ #FreeBSD #BastilleBSD

RE: https://mastodon.online/@mullvadnet/116822264297340100 Tone deaf response from a company funneling money to fascists. If you&amp;#39;re giving Mullvad money, you should stop. They&amp;#39;re using it for evil. Get your refunds while you can. (Also check out this thread if you want to see them getting dragged through the mud.) #Mullvad #MullvadVPN #fascism

I&amp;#39;m learning (the hard way) that the wrong microSD card in the RPI4 will absolutely kill i/o performance. For this weekend project I needed to just use what I had lying around but this will need an upgrade. What are your preferred performance friendly microSD cards for use in RPI? #FreeBSD #RPI #microSD #Linux

RE: https://mastodon.social/@Viss/116817360307563848 I can see this happening. In my imagination, it&#39;s all the same cryptobros and web3/NFT people who never understood tech properly in the first place and hopped on the fully-automated AI agent bandwagon. CVE-2026-LGTM and CVE-2024-YIKES both worth the read!

I just ran some comparisons of the iwm(4) and the iwlwifi(4) drivers for my FreeBSD 15.1-RELEASE Lenovo X1 Carbon (gen 6). After three tests of each driver the results suggest that: 1) iwlwifi is a more reliable connection (across jitter, latency and drops). 2) iwlwifi download is 200%+ higher than iwm 3) iwm upload is 350%+ higher than iwlwifi 4) iwm connects at 54Mbps 802.11a 5) iwlwifi connects at 802.11ac 80 MHz (VHT/80+) Really promising improvements so far. #FreeBSD #iwlwifi #iwm

We may be in the market to hire a part-time FreeBSD and Bastille sysadmin (~20hrs week) specifically in the EMEA or APAC timezones (eventually both). The roles require experience with FreeBSD, Bastille, nginx, and at least one useful coding language. Timeline is mid-to-late 2026 to start. Any of our EU / APAC friends want to come work part-time with the Bastille creator on a cybersecurity startup? #FreeBSD #BastilleBSD #Cybersecurity
